Trevor put his bike ahead in the first turn , with Scott on his rear wheel. The two battled head to head for the w ho le moto , but Tre vor rod e perfec tly, blocking Scott at every passing point. Round 24: Palmyra Racing Association McGibney Gobbles Up the Victory By LARRY WOOSTER PALMYRA, NY, SEPT. 26 T he fifth race of t he WNYMA Fall Series, presented by OneWest Cloth ing, w as Loc tite Day on top of Hogback Hill at the Palmyra Racing Association, as nearly 450 riders enjoyed anot he r sunny but chilly race day. Tradit io n oozes from this tr ack, w ith extra- deep racing gr ooves and multip le Jines generating a nd dege ne rating by the moto, w hile the PRA track crew tweaked the pre vious week' s track configuration like a fine reed on a two-stroke. In the Over 25 B class, there were 18 riders of Beginner, Novice and Amateur rankings w ho were 2S or olde r, all ready to roc k and roost their way into local motocros s history. Tom Co x, Dan iel De Roller and Mike Beale led the pack th ro ugh th e ho le sho t and o ff the fiy-off, w ith Mike Di Fio re , David Walsh and Steve Freg oe (o n a vintage I990 -something two- stroke Suzuki) in tow. Shawn McGibney made the haul from O tta wa , Canada , to bang bars wit h Donald Rich , Jaso n Jo hnston and Patr ick McLaughlin before recovering from a slow stan to challenge the top three riders by midmoto. Aaron Rouse was flying as he trailed McGibney into the top five conte nd e rs , d uel ing w ith De Roller and Mclaughlin. McGibney outcorne re d both Cox an d Dl Fiore before tak ing the w h it e flag. McGibney was so lo at the checkered flag, with seco nd-place finisher Di Fiore hitting th e big uphilVdownhili six-pac k with third- place finisher C o x ba r t o bar. Mc Laughl in an d D e Roll e r claimed fourth and fifth , and Rouse, Do n C larke, SO Fregoe. johnsto n and Walsh finished w ith toplOs. Some of these guys are n't w rapped too tight , so we' ll see if any of th e big Loctite bags of products awarded on this day help keep thes e nuts th readed and engines unseized . Frego e timed the gate d rop perfectly and nailed t he mote-two holes hot on his vintage Suzuki, over Yamaha-mounted Co x and Honda fo ur-st ro ke hopeful McGibney. De Rolier, Di Fio re and Wa lsh were roos ting high but st ill trail ing t he le ad e r s off t he w ide fly- o ff. McGibney slipped by Fregoe and opened up a monste r-s ized le ad . D e Roller roll e d past Fregoe and set o ut in hot pursui t of the leade r. Di Fiore was the next rider to pass Fregoe, and he beg an re e ling in De Roller, but McGibney wa s checking into a new time zone ahe ad of them. Rouse new past Fregoe , Mclaughlin and Cox late in the mot o . McGib ne y (I-I) t o o k fir st ove ra ll in dom inating fashion , over Di Fiore (2-3) and De Ro ller (S-2). Cox (3-5) and Rous e (6-4) rounded ou t the to p five. McLaughlin (4-6) , Fregoe (8- 7), C larke (7-8), Walsh (20-9) and Joh nston (9- 10) completed the to p 10 overall.
