Dillon Finley won both SOcc Senior motos for yet another overall victory in the AMA District 14 MX Su pe r Se rie s. fin ish. In Vet raci ng action, Fletcher was the big man on campus, grabbing a pair of w ins in the Over 30 class, which paid off his racing fees and also put a little change in his pocket. Fletcher ( I- I) o utrode Jim Brow n (2-2) as the two riders barrie over the District 14 po ints champio nship in the O ve r 30 class . Dou g Finley (3-3) was solid in bo th motos to take home the third-place money. In the Over 25 class, Fletcher (2-2) also took top ho nors , desp ite no t w inning a mo to , bu t two co nsiste nt finishes put him in the driver's seat. e njoying a la rge lead in t he second B-c1ass RESULTS ~ moto, but the 17-yea r-old lost foc us and fe ll. In the e nsuing mayhem, Tow, Huffman and Nic Wo lfer all slipped past Metzl er; Tow (3- 1) won ove ra ll, wit h Huffman (2-2) and Metz le r ( 1-4) carding top -three finishes. Metzler didn't make the same mistake in the combined 125cc Pro/B co ntest , as he ove rtook fast-start ing Kenny Webster in both mot os and easily won. Metzler 's margin of victory in each mote was well over 20 seco nds. Metzler seem s to be ready to ste p up to the Pro class, and he should do extremely well against the top-notch riders when he does so. Web ste r placed seco nd to Met zler in both motos to net the Pro-class w in, while Wolfe r an d David C offey finis he d ahead o f the second- placed Pro , Bro o ks, all weil behind the long-gone Metzle r. Speaking of lo ng gone, Watts chew ed up the competit ion and spit them out en route to his Superm ini-class win. Ricky Miranda, ano ther of the state' s top 85cc riders, stuck with Watts for a coup le of la p s , b ut W a tts k icke d in t h e afte rburners midway t hrough both motos and disap pear ed. Miranda placed second to 85cc (9- 1I) class winner Watts in bot h moto s and earn ed the B5cc ( 12- 15) cla ss w in. Th e rider fr o m S nearb y Brush Prairie dom inated the Supermini (9 -1 I) and 85cc (7- 11) classes to stand along side Guy Tow and Ricky Mira nd a , th e other double class w inners on the day. O rego n's Do n Bisceglia, a 13-yea r veteran o f AM A ou t do o r N at io na l a n d Sup e r cro s s com petition, came clo se t o winn ing two classes , but the Ho nd a r ider fe ll at t he start o f t he second Over 30 Pro moto and co uldn't find a way past Bob Melloy by mote's e nd ; by virtue of his 1-2 finishes , he placed seco nd to Melloy after handily win ning both 250cc Pro -class mo to s. Biscegli a bu r ne d t he comp etition in th e op ening 2SDcc Pro m ote , leading Melloy and Trevor Brooks into the top thr ee . Bisceglia t hen reeled in Melloy at an alarm ing rate, e xecu ting a slick pas s o ne lap late r. Hatley, Wisconsin, native Brad Modjewski, w ho no w owns AMA N at io nal num ber 95 , made the trek to pad his wallet, as well mor e 40th Anniversary than $750 extra was up for grabs in the A classes. Modjewski collected the lion's share of the purse by sweeping all four motos in the 125cc A and 250cc A classes · a perfect way to e nd the season in nort heast Wisconsin, as winte r is d osing in.
