It is brutally powerful and isn't as cushy as the others. But ifyou've got from the Unadilla track, the Thunder Ridg e's natural-te rrain course , with its rolling hills, sweeping turns and lengthy layout, shares many of the same features as the more famous track across the way. Unfortunately, _ 250cc four-strokers from Japan, but we won 't know for sure untilwe get the chance to run the TC back to back w ith the others. There's no question, howe ver, that the TC450 has the power to hang with its class While we liked all t hree of the TEs, the 250 was our choice for one last ride at the end of the day. the muscle to tame this beast , this could be the machine for you. MOTOMAN IA Day two was rese rved for t he TCs. We were taken to Thunder Ridge Cycle Park, located off Highway 8 - yep, the same road that takes you to Unadilla. Sprawled out a ridge over 22 NOVEMBER 3,2004 • Husky did not have a TC510 for us to sample here, but we certainly made do with the TC250 and 450. Once again, the 250 raised our eyebrows. Like t he TE, the TC250 revs quicker, divvies out more power and carburates much better than before, leaving us to believe that the TC can now run w ith the CYCLE NEWS rivals from Japan. This bike gets up and goes w hen you tw ist the throttle , that's for sure, and allthat power is delivered to the ground rathe r smoothly. We had no pro blems clicking the Huskys th rough the gears, nor did we have trouble getting them slow ed down for the turns, wher e the TCs too k care of business most 40th Anniversary efficiently The majority of the comers on this . track were , as we said, sweeping, a few with soft berms - exactly what the Huskys livefor. We did overhear a local pro that joined us for the day say that he felt that the Huskys "tum better than my Honda [CRF450Rj: ' As far as suspension , we honestly can't say either way, since the track was well prepped and quite smooth, and w ith o nly about nine or 10 riders, it never reallygot all t hat rough . Those bumps that did form, however, the Huskys sailed right over. We're anxious to get the TCs on the track at the same time as the other comparable thumpers out there, and we think the new Huskys will match up we llagainst them . If you're w o nder ing ab o ut Husky's plans to go raci ng mo tocross again, it has Signed two yo ung up- and-co ming Italian ride rs th at w ill compete in t he World GP Series in Europ e next year, but Husky has no plans to field a team in the United Stat es for '05 . However, Husky might make a push in '06. eN
