Pro Circuit Kawasaki motocross racer Eric So rby
made a visit to the personal watercraft World Finals in
Lake Havasu, Arizona, to particip ate in the Sea-Doc
3D Triple-Down Triathlon. The prize for the event
was a brand-new Sea- Doc 3D wa te rcraft, for which
racers had to navigate a portion of the World Finals
racecourse in the fastest time to win .
This was no ordinary race, however, as competitors
would pilot a 3D around the track in o ne version
(Moto. Vert or Kart). and then just before th e finish
line they would have to pull off the lanyard (thereby
cutting the craft's power) and convert the 3D into
another mode be fore plugging the lanyard back in and
racing around the track - and all the w hile t he stop
watch would still be running. They would make the
conversion th ree times and ride once around the t rack
in each form , and only after racing in eac h form would
they be able to cross the finish line to stop the clock.
Racers learned pretty quickly t hat whoever could
convert th e cra ft into another mode qu ickest would
probably w in the race. There were 12 racers who
qualified for the 3D Triple-Do wn Triath lon, such as
free style motocrosser Ronnie Rennner, wak eskate r
Thomas Horrell. and PWC racers Victo r Sheldon .
Jamie Cheney. Jay Edw orthy. Karine Paturel and Bo
Dupries t. Making it to the final along wit h Sorb y were
PWC racers Eric Lagopoulos. C hris Fischett i, Ce lio
Venicius and C raig Warn er. But in the end, it was
supercross racer Eric Sorby who sc hooled all the
watercraft guys and took home the 3D.
So rby waves to
the crowd after
winning a
Sea-Doo 3D for
his efforts.
