Kaste n quickly took up the chase , w ith Seavers and T.J. nip ping at his heels. Away Mark and Kasten went, le aving everyone else beh ind . Lapping riders by the fourth lap, it was apparent they we re in a different league and in a race of their own . Kasten would dose up going into the turns, but Mark countered w ith dr ives off th e turns that Kasten was sure wou ld ruin Mark's rear-tire traction befo re the 15 laps were over. just in case that didn't happen, Kasten kept the pressure on, looking for a way by and torturing his own tire in the process. On t he last couple of laps, Mar k actually pulled out a bit of breathing room w hile his rear tire went away, coc king his nat tracke r into an unending slide arou nd the track , in a mo ve that even Kasten cou ldn't match. Withers then traded w ins with Travis Bair for the overall in t he Supermini class. The y we re chased to the finish line by Erik Burnworth, w ho filled the rem aining podium spot. II D ingle, Wisconsin's Mark Zeidle r. on his C&]I'rra m e d Honda 450 , bested the stockframed bikes with the fastest time and feature w in on the slightly banked qu art er-mile blacktop oval at Pe psi Raceway Park. Other than a second-place finish in the heat. be hind Randy Ruffi, Zeidler dominated the program. T ime trials saw Zeid ler stopping the clock the quickest, w ith a t ime of 14.6 25 . Steve Kaste n scored 14.983 and Ruff 15.074 , with the re st of the field in the mid-I Ss to low 16s. In the first heat, quick-starting Ruffi paced the field do w n the bac kst re t c h. wit h Bra d Seavers in his sha dow and Zeid le r all over Seavers' re ar w hee l. While Ruffi put down 10 good laps out fro nt, Seavers looked for a way aro und him, until Ze idler did an in-high/o ut-Iow move to sweep past Seavers on lap seven. It lo o ke d like Ze idle r wou ld contin ue on pas t 76 Rum, but Ruffi's line and tire choice won out in the end, and Zeidle r had to settle for second. In heat two , 1:.J. Zeidler, Mark's brother, got his 450cc Yamaha off the line first , w ith Kaste n all over him in a I n-lap slugfest . Kaste n tried e very mo ve in the book ex ce pt going right straight thr ough T. . A last-lap drive around the ] outside by Kasten came up inches short, and 1:.J . held o n for the win. Wit h the I5-lap feature race ahead of them, all the com pet itors inspected and changed their mounts aro und, looking for that little edge that would move them ahea d in t he pack . jetting, gearing , tire cho ice and rim sizes, air press ure , fork and shock damping all were altered in the search for more speed. "Good luck, everyone!" Seavers shouted as he put his helmet and race face o n, looking for his first feature win in the last race of the seaso n. He just rod e his KTM to his fou rt h co nsec utive win in t he Pee Wee O pen class at Moto rcycle Raceway. clinching first place overall in the Gold Cup Se ries . McC o nville just rece nt ly too k a giant leap forwa rd in his spee d and ability and seems to be handling it beautifully. KTMs were all that could be see n on the sta rt gate of the Pee Wee Open class. In mot o on e , McCon ville got out in fro nt e a rly and never loo ked ba ck. A.j . Reid and Mit chell Merrell tried their best, but the y couldn't catch the boy wonder and had to settle for second and third , resp ective ly. Moto two was a repeat performance for all involved . leaving the overa lls to McConville, Reid and Merrell, in a sea of orange on the podium. The Pee Wee O il-Inje ct e d class wa s very similar. Chandler Goodman went w ire to wire in both more s. with Marcus McCawley and Tyler Bills in tow. All three we re aboard KTMs, and the podium was once again completely orange. Kawasakis dominated t he Mini Mini O pe n class , turning the pod ium green. Andrew Bills naile d do w n the w in in both rnotos, wh ile a battle raged behind him. In mote one, it wa s Lane Henderson who came through in second, w ith Chandler Hardzog taking th ird. After the dust settled in mota two , it was Hardzog taking second , followed by Cody Conne r in th ird . Overalls went to Bills. Hardzog and Hen de rso n. The women we re more varied in their bike C 40th Anniversary br ands and more co nsiste nt in th eir finishes . Th e Wom en's class overall win went to Amy Keen on a Honda , and she got to the checkers first in both mo tos. jackie Streber cross e d the finish line in se co nd in both moto s o n her Suzuki, and Yamaha rider Danielle Tettle ton had a set of thirds.
