A couple of our customers that are interes ted in building a Supermoto bike are able to get here today and see the track and see exactly wha t all the excitement is reallyabout." A win in the second ro und he lpe d Luke Terlinde n & Kevin W hite 's team take a close th ird overall. These guys had a grea t year and kept getti ng faste r and faster, especialty Wh ite . Paul Bue tt ne r an d his te am rode a horse named dete rmination to a fourth-place finish on the year. The last race of the year was a perfect e xample : Buett ne r rode like the Lone Ranger and clocked nearly one hou r and SO minutes without getting ou t of the sadd le. AI Hanse n made good use of the race 's last 14 minutes and crossed the line in third place to take home a trophy for the day. Team RAW quietly put in th ree solid races and finished the year in fifth . A tru e team effort , Team RA had the most active ride rs of all the W to p finishers . An d y Mauk , Ric k Gol db e rg, Lindsay Mauk and Wes O rloff all contributed to the team's cause . Elliot Cho and Be n Carlso n, members of the HMC KTM Supe rmo to team , ran the third race of the year as a final step in Carlson's recovery from a bout with mono. The two had a good day on the track, and Cho, Carlson's mechanic, enjoyed the ex perie nce. " It always fee ls good to get out on a bike," o Carlso n explained after the race. "Y u know what I mean?" Robinson Rips at SVRI By CARL DAVIS TIFFIN, OH, AUG. 15 T ony Robinso n ripped to dou ble Pro -class wins at the Sandusky Valley Riders C lub, sw ee ping round o ne of the AMA Dist rict 12 Northern Ohio Champion sh ip MX Series event. Scheits Motors of Fremont, Oh io, sponso re d the well-attended e vent and prov ided lots of door prizes for the eager pack of riders . The Suzuki-mounted Robinson smoked the 12Scc A and 2S0cc A classes . He was on a mission until Mother Nature shut him down . Robinson ope ned up the day with a win in the 2S0cc A class, over Jake Davis and Dillon Watk ins, and he took the 125cc A class firstmo ta win over Watk ins and Josh Kompa. And that wou ld st a nd as the final resu lts fo r a we at he r-sho rte ne d day. As ra in and lightning moved through the are a, riders rea lized there was no way to co ntinue racing. so a vote was made to end the day. Several ride rs scored double class w ins. Austin Primare ra took wins in the 6Scc ( 10- 1I) class, over Brendan Mack and Clay Elliott, and the n nailed the SScc Extra -class win, over Sean Kilkenny and Zach Rinard. He scored the Schoolboy victo ry over Bryce Larse n and Brian How ard , and t hen nabbe d the 125cc B win. over Brian Howard and Sammy Isabe l. Never mind that this is a three-race series; the re are not any straightaways at the Motorplex that are longenough to catch your breath . The team of Cole Walsdorf & Scott Diedrich was once again running at the fro nt of the pack, and t he pair wo n the final race in the ser ies . Three grea t performances ea rne d the two a couple of wins and a second-place finish and the overall lead in series points . Taking advantage of all the seat time, both riders are competing in th e AMA Supermoto Series this fall with the Crankworks Team. The re we re three other teams run ning right along with Walsdorf & Died rich. USGPRU Natio no l Championship Series Round '0: Barber Motorsports Park Kcraget, Long Raze Barberi By DENNIS WOODS BIRMINGHAM, AL, AUG. 18 arbe r Notorsports Park served as a spec tacular venue for roun d lOaf the USGPRU Nationa l Championship Ser ies, w hich ran in conjunctio n with the Formu la USASeries. In 12Scc GP, th e field was massive , as 42 riders took to t he tra ck for qu alifying. Texas teen W ill Gruy rode his Honda RS12S to a scintillating I:3S.92 lap time and pushed Brian Kcraget to respon d with I:35.79 lap to claim pole. Garrett Carter, having recently returned from a sum mer vacation of racing in England, rode h is Ho nd a RS 125 t o a strong t hird , fo llowed by Scott Moxey. on a Hon da RS125. and J.D. Schend el, on a Yamaha TZI2S . When the green nag dropped for the 125cc GP final. the front -r unne rs hacked thei r wa y through the first turn and set off after leaders Kcraget and Gruy. Giving chase were Carter, Moxe y. Schendel and Todd Puckett . Kcraget pushed Gruy to the limit, and late in the race, the B www.cyclenews.com torrid pace too k its toll, as Gruy tucked the fro nt end and crashed out. This sealed the V ictory for Kcraget. Carter and Ma xey chased hard to claim the remaining spots on the podium. Aft e r show ing ev e ry one th e fas t line , Kcrag e t inst r u c t e d Carter in the proper techn ique for opening of a champag ne bortle . a skill t hat Garrett may put to good use in his future racing career. In 2S0cc GP action , the field w as also ex ce pt io nally deep, with 40 ride rs entered . Barre t Long threw down the quickest qualifying lap on his TZ25 0 at I:34.0 I, while Sean Wray, also TZ2S0-mounted . followed close ly with a time of 1:34.9 1. Bill Himmelsbach e dge d out Kcraget for third, and western - region champ Sean McNew rounded out the top five spots on the grid. In the 2S0cc GP fina l, Kcraget got the ho leshot, fo llowe d by Scott McN ew. on his RS250. After the first lap, Long charged to the front , and he and Kcraget began to stretch out a lead as times plummeted be low the qualifying pace. Scott McNew foug ht off Himmelsbach and Wray for much ofthe race , but a near-crash in the closing laps allowed the pair to get past.
