· MOTOCROSS - Round 11 September S , 2004 AMA Chevrolet 2 5 0 cc Championship Motocross S eries My 103 OWN RACE: Sebastian Tortelli 250cc 4th (4-6) Ever since his return. Sebastian Tonelli has been consistently running at the front of the pack. "The race went okay: ' Tonelli said. "I just got bad starts all day. I had a really bad day on Saturday and just couldn't ride and go fast or anything. Sunday was a good day; I raced good and I was happy with both of my motos. The first mota was good; I got a little lucky with the whole pileup. The second mota, I got a bad stan again. I didn't think that was possible. to do worse. But I crashed in the first corner and was dead last. My clutch got stuck on my pants, so it took me a while to get started again. After that. I tried as hard as I could to charge through the pack. I'm just a little bit bummed. I'm not happy because... I came from dead last to sixth, so it was a great ride , so I'm happy about that . But I'm just a bit upset to have [Mike) Alessi on the podium, that's all. I tried alii could to pass Nick [Wey) on the last lap to get on the podium , because I don't like his [Alessi's) attitude too much . I'm just looking forwa rd to Glen Helen; I love that track ." 12 David Vuillem in 12th (3 -33) After the first moto, David Vuillemin was in excellent position for a podium spot. The enti re first mota, he rode unchallenged in the third position . Then, in the second moto, while he was running inside the top 10 and was looking strong, he suddenly pulled off the track with an undisclosed mechanical problem. 23 Kyle Lewi s 10th (6- 14) Always in the mix. Lewis had a good day and even managed to pull the holeshot in the first mota. "Yeah. the stan was good:' Lewis said. "My mechanic busted his butt and built me a good motor. I've been battling that all year and have been trying to get a good combination. I just tried to ride a smooth race . Towards the end of the moto there. [Mike) Alessi got on me on the last lap, and I made some mistakes . and he was riding good and got by me , so I got sixth. Then, in the second mota. I bobbled out of the gate and had to come from behind . They watered the track and it was ridiculous; I mean , I don't know what they were thinking. But. oh well, I had a good day. I'm looking forward to next weekend; the din's good , and its one of my favorite tracks." 89 Blair Morgan 21st ( 18-19) Snowmobi le champion Blair Morgan rode cons istently all day but admitted he got hot out there. "The first mota was not too bad: ' Morgan said. "I had to come from the LCQ. so I had a bad pick and I was way on the outside. But it worked out pretty good , because there were a bunch of pileups everywhere, and I got around them all. I think I was in II th for a little while there. The heat right now - it's kind of getting cold back home in Canada- the heat kind of got to me, so I dropped back quite a ways. I finished 18th or something like that. In the second moto, I got a bad stan· I think around 18th or something. I think I worked my way up to 14th or something."
