Night racing is much cooler than racing during the day and provides colorf ul action for the fans. Following a we ek o f co nstant on-again/o ff-again rain, the track managemen t at Xtre me World pulled of a nea r miracle , pr oviding a racea ble t rac k for th is night' s po ints series. The second rou nd of the Oklaho ma Summe r Points Series was sche d uled fo r June 5, bu t ra ins chased away any chance of holding the race on that date , so the event was moved to July 31. Practice began at 7 p.rn. and the race s start ed at 8 p.m., en ding at 10 o'clock sharp. T he highlight of th e nigh t w as wa tc hing Pro ride r Stev e Nichols fro m California ride his Y aha on the sho rt t ra ck. am Nichols is an awesome sight to be hold on the half miles, and he's like a fine-tuned machine o n the short track . Although the big tracks are his favorites, Nichols mast ers the short trac k with a precision and style th at had the e ntire rene e lined up with young riders watch ing his riding tech nique.
