Henson Pounds Indy Prostar Pavement I Barry Henson became the first rider in AMA Prostar history to make a 2 00·mph pass using a DOT rea r tire. Keith Lynn took his first win in the Weisman Transmission Funnybike class, over first-time finalist Troy Brown, and Todd Doege won the Accel Pro Stock final, with a close 7. 17-to-7.18 victory over Paul Gast. In the Sportsman ranks, Ryan Schnitz padded his points lead as took his fourth win of the season in the Lee's Performance 1000cc Supersport class. Schnitz set new records for the class at 9.014 seconds and 156.08 mph on the Muzzy ZX-IOR and took out fellow Kawasaki rider Chip Ellis in the final. Ellis, meanwhile, scored his fourth win of the season in Zero Gravity 600cc Supersport, getting by Richard Gadson, nephew of Rickey for the second straight , final. Rick McWaters got the win in the Yamaha Hot Rod Cruiser class, getting by the V-Rod of Jamie McNaughton in the final and setting records of 9.254 seconds and 144.97 mph on the Patrick RacingYamaha arry Henson made history at the AMNProstar Pingel Thunder Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park, August 2 122, becom ing the first-ever rider to run over 200 mph in a street-tire class. The run came in the semifinals of the Mickey Thompson Streetbike Shootout, where Henson recorded a 7.3S elapsed time at 200.17 mph to take the win over Muzzy B 10 Kawasaki's RickeyGadson. Henson, riding his Velocity Racing turbo Hayabusa, took the final over team rider Mike Siowe with a 7.291 at 198.03 mph, which stood for both ends of the national record. The run was the first under 7.30 seconds and gave Henson his third straight event win . Larry McBride remained undefeated in SEPTEMBER 8, 2004 • CYCLE N EWS Top Fuel and virtually locked up an unprecedented sixth class championship. McBride ran unopposed in the final , as scheduled opponent Ron Webb bro ke in the burn-out. Also remaining undefeated for the season is Lectron Pro Mod champ Cha rlie Farrar, who rode the C&W Cycleworks Kawasaki to his second straight win over Mike Caputo, beating the Oh io rider 6.81 to 6.8S. 40th Anniversary Warrior. Ot her winners included Kathie Van Strien in Super Eliminator, Butch Schwartz in Schnitz Top Gas, Mike Konopacki in MTC Super Cornp, Scott Parker in RC Components Super Gas, Mark Coulson in Dyantek Pro ET and Craig Gutowsky in Street ET.
