After battl ing his way past Rich KJng for third place in the fourth
heat race , Shaun Russell started on the outside of row two for
the main event , and spe nt most of it battling wit h Jared Mees and
Rob Pearso n before pulling clear of the two to net sixth. "I didn't
really get the start that I wanted, and that kind of messed me
up," Russell said. " I just had to work my way to the front . I
thought we were fast, but eve rybody was kind of gone already.
Sixth is not really what I came here to do , but we'll learn from it
and just come back next year. We 're just starting to get to where
we can run up at the front every week: '

Rob Pearson is developing into a solid performer week in and
week out, and he proved it by coming from row two and running
as high as fifth in the main event before eventually slipping back
to seventh. " I tried to set tle in and pick off a co uple guys at the
beginning, but the roost was so bad," Pearson said. "It was like
you couldn't get out of it. I was fifth at one point . We had the
rnotoreyde set up real short, and ~ wasworkingrealgood. As the track
got rougher, the bike was reacing so quickly, and it was tossing me around
and wearing me out, and I just faded. We got some more points, and
we're still looking to get Rookie of the Year."
