Briar Sample, on his potent RM6S, blasts his
way to victory in the 0 -6Scc Open class at
round four of the YZ Thunder Series in Dora,
Oklahoma. He won the SScc Junior (7 -11) cla ss
a s w ell.

never re linquishe d it . Cody Davison charged hard aboard his
KTM and finished t he mo to second, just ahead of Kaw asakimou nted N athan Griffin .
In moto two, a sw arm of KTMs again got o ut fro nt ea rly.
This time, Shumate was putting in his bid for the w in, rid ing just
beh ind Fitzgibbon . It wasn't to be though, as Fitzgibbon rode
consisten tly for the mot e win and the overall. Shumate crossed
th e line in seco nd, ahead of Davison and Griffin.
As t he 8Scc Junior (7- 1I) riders rounded the first turn ,
Co lt Buc k ner put his Su zu ki o ut fro nt , ahea d of Eddy,
Shumate , Fitzgi bbo n and Bria r Sam ple. Ridi ng an RM6S,
Sample began clawing his way to the Iron t of the pac k. Within
a lap. Sample took over and immediate ly began to check out.
When the checkered flag flew, Sample took the win , ahead of
Buckner and Eddy.
Mota two blasted off, and again Buckner got off to the early
lead , ahead of Eddy, Shum ate and Fitzgibbon. Sample was
bringing up the rear, but he had no inte ntion of staying there
fo r ve r y long. Pic king ride rs o ff one at a ti me , Sa m p le
methodically made pass afte r pass. Shum ate he ld a qu icke r
pace th is time around and slipped by Buckne r for seco nd place
before mota's e nd. Sample won the mota , followed closely by
Shumate, Buckne r, Eddy and Fitzgibbon .
Wh en ride rs launched from the gat e for the first 0-6Scc
O pe n mota , Suzuki jockey Sample and KTM rider Fitzgibbon
got o ut fro nt ea rly. The two quick ly be gan pouring on th e
power and made a quick brea kaway from the pack. O nce out
front , though, Sample wasn't to be caught. When the checkers
flew, Fitzgibbon and Shumate followed him home.
Wh en mo ta two go t started, it w as aga in Sam p le a nd
Fitzgibbon commanding the ear ly lead. Putting his head down
and twist ing his right grip, Samp le was simply uncatchable .
Cody Davison and Mark White Jr. began the ir own little battle
for thir d. When the mota came to an en d, it was Sample by a
slight margin over Fitzgibbon, followed by Davison and White.
Exiting the t rack, high-fives and smiles we re share d.
In the highly com pe titive O ve r 30 Expert class, Tomm y
Dalton swept both motes , just ahead of eage r Suzuki ride r Mike
McCutcheo n and Honda -mounte d Johnny W illiams.
