than I once said that if he only had a year to live, he'd move to Hemet. Because every day there seems like an eternity. So after navigating our way down the mountain and through the stoplights and picturesque rock gardens of Hemet, two tired hombres and a fired up Harden pulled into Apex Raceway to find Langston and cre w waiting patiently. By this time, Moen was already there and had co nve rt ed the bikes from full-moto to full-supermoto . All we had to do was drink more Red Bull and change into our leathers. By this point, I was wishing the wheel change had taken longer. At least a day longer. As much as I've enjoyed riding supermoto every time I've tried it, the thought of getting into those leathers made me want to puke up a knee puck . But Langston got us fired up, gave us a few tips and we were suddenly ripping 011 laps of Apex on KTMs, both big and small. This time the big KTM was the bike of choice, mainly because it he lped us keep Langston in Sight - if only on the straights . Again, like motoing w ith Hughes and oll.roading with Harden , riding supermoto w ith Langsto n was an eyeopener. I thought his wheelieing past me on the straights was humiliating . Then I got on the brakes as late as I pos sibly dared - only to look to my left and see him coming past me - on the front wheel. Full stoppie. Riding the KTMs at Apex only made me wish for one thing : more energy. Both Greg and I were totally whipped by this point in the day. But it was well worth the pain, and I did my very best not to fall asleep in Heben's truck on our way home. There's no better tired than the kind of tired that dulls the mind after a hard day of riding. And this was one of those days . After all, we'd survived Cahuilla Creek with Hughes, circumnavigated our way over the mountains and through Hemet vvith Harden, and had been humi liated by Langston at a place called Apex .
