T hing§ liot "'Foggy" at Laguna
Vendors and fans alike were thrilled by the strong turnout at
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last weekend, when a reported
93,000 fans attended the racing over the three-day event. Beyond
the great racing offered by both the AMA and World Superbike
events were the fabulous offerings of the many vendors in the
midway. One such vendor was Racing Lines, run by William Farru gia, his fiancee, Megan , and Ian - his witty partner in crime.
Together, th is team, thick with English accents, flooded the pits
and spectator stands in a sea of Foggy Petronas Green. Upon our
arrival to the track on Friday to cover the events, it was easy to
spot the team members in their fashionable designs , but by Saturday you had to second-guess yourself because so many fans has
purchased Foggy Petronas merchandise, and by Sunday the track
was positively Foggy!
Adding to the frenzy, tha nks to Mr. Farrugia 's direct contact to
the FPR team, were the scheduled autograph signings fo r Troy
Corser and Ch ris Walker. Bo t h racers were absolutely co rdial,
with Walker taking extra time to pay attention to the childre n in
line for autographs. There's a huge difference between the autograph collector and the true fan, and these blo kes seem to have
the gift of discernment. For example, Rudy Landry of Denver, Colorado, approached a pensive Corser by
the riders' information center near the press tent. Not on ly did Troy amicably greet Rudy, but he actively
engaged in a five minute conversation about the weekend while signing a replica toy stand.
Between the progressive products in the PFR range, the skills of Racing Lines in the promotions department, and the fan-oriented behavior of the team... the following of
the Foggy Petronas Race Team here in the United States is sure to grow exponentially.
