were packed full of excellent racing.
Tuesday saw a great battle take place in the
B5cc (12-13) class between Ben laMay and
Nico 112i. Ben laMay, alter a third-place start,
flew past everybody else before the first lap was
even half done. Then halfway through the race ,
l12i moved up to challenge laMay, and challenge
he did. They passed and repassed, four different
times in less than a quarter of a lap. Then it happened, the seemingly invincible laMay abruptly stopped, a victim of a bike that had committed suicide. Twenty seconds later, lzzi augured into the Mammoth loam. Then, suddenly,
Trent Pugmire found himself in front and on cruise control for the win. In the end it was
Pugmire taking the 85cc (12-13) win, with TylerVillopoto, Trey Canard and Cole Seely
rounding out the top four spots, respectively.
Other action had Ryan Villopoto winning the BScc (12-15) and the Supermini classes.
Even though Pugmire gave Villopoto fits for a while, Villopoto was able to outlast him and
the rest of the competitors. lzzl came on late to steal second from Pugmire in this tough
class.
On Wednesday the action was equally as fierce as Tuesday. This year, the 65s were bro ken down into age groups for the first time at Mammoth. In the older division (9-11), Eli
Tomac dominated, winning the overall both days alter fierce battles with Blake Baggett and
Chris Plouffe.
The 8Scc (12.13) class raced again on Wednesday, with lzzi emerging victorious to take
the overall for the day. Results from both days' racing were tallied to crown overall twoday champions in all classes. The fastest rider competing was Villopoto. and he took welldeserved overall championships in both the BScc(14-15) and Supermini classes. Justin Hill
topped the 65cc (6-B) class for the two days, with EliTomac besting the 65cc (9-11) division. Tomac also conquered the B5cc (9-11) class for his second overall title. And, finally, in
the B5cc (12-13) class, Pugmire came away with the win alter the two days of racing.
