He iner was slicing his way throu gh the field. Powe ll worked his way by Butterfield and set his sights on the st reak ing Olse n, w ho pulled out all the stops and stretched his lead even furthe r. Heiner had now worked his way past Butte rfield. With the chec kers wa ving, Ols e n too k the win . with Powell second and He ine r th ird. Alex Alsop blasted to th e seco nd-moto holes hot , wit h Olse n on hi s ta il. Olse n overtook Alsop and was looking to chec k out, but he went down and was no longer a factor in the mo to . He iner inheri te d the le ad, w ith Andrew Brisk challenging. Brisk pressu red Heiner the entire moto . Brisk was fas ter through the w hoops and was looking to make it by Heiner over the tr iple. but Heiner wo uld fight back a nd retake the le ad in t he ne xt corner. He iner took the w in and the overall, with Gary Adams (4-3) second overall and Brisk (7-2) third . jesse Hodges snatched the lead in the first 250cc Intermed iat e m o t o , wit h j ared Lechte nbe rg and Danie l Johnson close behind . Hodges st r etch ed his lead to a couple of seconds and appeared to have the race under co ntrol . but Johnson was press ur ing Lechtenberg, a nd t hat pr e ssure made Lechtenberg kick it up a notc h, and th e tw o soon had Hod ges' lead down to a bikelength . The Saturday night event feat ure d a $400 cash award for the Fast Time , with a beautiful 6-foot-tall trophy. The Mount Vernon club also awards an excellent trophy to the Fast Time in the Youth classes. Matt Peters sat atop the scoreboard on Saturday night. flying his classy KTM 380 ove r the top of the ISO-foot hill in 3.647 seconds, overtaking Brent Bowman , who had delivered a 3.742·second run on his RevLoc Honda in the first ro und to wi n the 600cc class . Bowman cras hed hard on his secon d ride and was unable to compete in the Sunday climb, passing the Gayle Jenkins-owned Honda to Jake Tackitt. Caleb Emory was t he big Youth -c lass winner, as he too k the Youth Fast Tome trophy. Rid ing a KX8 5 in t he ju nior Mini class, he turned a time of 4.46 1 seconds on his KX85 to ta ke not on ly th e class w in but also the Fast Time award. T he 2003 National Cham pion in the Junior Mini class. Shane Green, was Emo ry's closest challenge r. as he topped the hill in 4.633 seconds on his YZS5 to take the Sen ior Miniclass win. Green e njoyed a do uble-win night , as he also took the victory in the 12Scc class with an outstand ing 3.9S5-second ru n on his YZI2S . Paul Hart was also a double-class w inner wit h his stock-le ngth 2SOec Husqvama . Riding in the 250cc class, Hart sailed high over the top in 3.928 seconds on his seco nd ride to take the win from Peters , wh o had carded a 3.963 · second run on his CR250 in first -round action . Hart brought his Husky back in the 400cc Stoc k class and nailed an e xcellent 3.974-second time on his first run to take the win, with the class po ints leade r, R.J.
