with the front-runners, but a costly DNF in the second mota ruined his day. " My header
pipe fell off right after the finish-line at the halfway mark," Adams said. " I felt comfortable
in the first mota when I was ru nning fifth; I was pushing the who le mota."

Iva n Tedesco
8th (38-2)
Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Tedesco had eng ine troubles in the first mota
and was an early dropout, but he came back for the second outing to
show everybody what he had . A solid second place proved that he is
not just a Supercross specialist . " I got the 3Bth pick on the gate , and I
told all of my guys that I was going to get the holeshot, and I d id,"
Tedesco said. " I heard Bubba and let him by cleanly and then fell into •
a pace and kept an eye on Helper and Walker. I actually tipped over
one time too, but I got up and got it go ing quick."

Bro w n. This weekend Brown took th ird
overall with an inconsistent an d un usual
score of 2- 12.
Brown's se co nd- mo to finish was no t a
true sign of his speed th is weekend, as he
ran up front for both motos before a costly
m istake threw him to the gnound on a big
d ownhill. Brown lo st some points to
Heple r, but he still has a 14- point lead ove r
the Suzuki ride r for second; however, he
is a d istant 53 points behind Stewart
in the ra ce for the champions hip.
"The first moto was good,
and I had a good start," Brown
said . "In the seco nd mota I
jumped off Henry Hill and landed in some soft stuff and got thrown over
the bars. It took me a while to get going ,
and 1go t passed by a bun ch of guys."
Afte r struggling through the first few
Nati onals, AmsoiVChaparrai Honda-backed
Josh G ran t was able to put it all toge th e r for
fourth overall with an 8-5 score. The rookie fro m Yucaipa, California , put o n his race
face an d sho wed the speed that he had at
the Hangtown o pe ne r a few weeks back.
Recendy signing a two-year deal w ith the
AmsoiVHonda team, Grant put in two solid
rides an d moved into the top lO in points ,
w hich means he will no longer have to ride
the qu alifiers .
"I d idn't have a good start in either moto
and had to work through the pack both
times," Grant said. "It was hard to pass out
there, but I'm really stoked that I don't have
to qualify on Saturday any more - as lo ng as
I stay in the top 10."
Another Amsoil Honda rider who had a
good w eeke nd was Christopher Gosselaar.
"Goose" took fifth overall with a 4-13 . He
even led two laps of th e first moto and held
second for a lo ng tim e befo re succumbing
to Hepl e r and Brown. It was o ne o f his better showi ngs since the start of the outdoor
season. After Budds C reek G osselaar holds
15th in the poin ts with 50 .

Brock Sellards
6th ( I 1-6)
Boost Mobile/Yamaha of Troy's Sellards had a decent day. "My front en d washed out, and I
bent my radiator in the first mota," Sellards said. 'hld then in the second mota I rode in
third fo r a wh ile befo re I dr o pped back a few spots. I'll te ll yo u what, though, that Josh
Grant kid had some real good lines out there. I don' t know if it's fro m just coming out of
the amateurs or what, but he had some interesting lines."

N athan Ramsey
22 nd (16 -2 1)
Team Honda/Acerbis- backed Ramsey had a day he wou ld
rather forget. The Californian crashed in both rnotos, the
second one in a nasty first tum pile-up that left him
bru ised and battered. He earned five points on the day
for his troubles. " I just tipped over in the first and was
like, 'blaaap," Ramsey said just moments before the start
ofthe second mota, where he had his second crash.
"Wha t else can go wrong? " he said.

Boost Mobile/Y
amaha of Troy's KellySmith took his mSOF to two consistent finishes and
was upbeat about his day. "I got good starts in both motos, but I felt like a fish out of water
in the first mota. They watered too much , and it was really muddy, and I got passed by a
bunch of guys," Smith said. "I rode better the second time out. I felt strong and didn't get
tired in the second mota."

AmsoiVChaparrai Honda's Greg Schne ll went down in the first mo ta and put on a charge in
the second outing. In on ly his second race back afte r injury he holds down 19th in the
points as they near the halfway po int of the series. " I stalled it early in the first mota, the n
tipped over and cou ldn't get it started ," Schnell said. "1we nt fro m about ISth to seventh in
the second mota , so I was happ y wit h that ."
