Bonds Prevails in Washington WORCS V awasaki Team Green's Bo bby I'Bonds put the brakes to Nathan Woods' win streak in the World OffRoad Championship Serie s in Longview, Washington, on June 13, with a corne-from -behind win. Things d idn't look too good for Bonds at first. as he was trailing Montclair YamahalZip -Ty Racing teammates TyDavis and Woods and KTM's Kurt Caselli by a significant margin after the first lap. But Bonds slowly pushed his way to the front on the muddy and very tech nical racecourse, and he eventually got around everyone, including Davis, with a few laps to spare. On ce in front , Bonds, on a KX250, built up a small lead and went on to take the win, his second of the series . Davis, the de fending WORCS Champion, led most of the race o n his YZ250 until getting passed by Bonds, but he did ho ld on to sec ond despite a strong charge by Case lli. Caselli, aboard a KTM 250 SX, got to within a few seconds of Davis late in the race , but Davis stepped it up again and opened up a small gap o n Caselli before it was all over. For Woods, the YZ450F pilot appeared to struggle a bit on the tighter-than-usual WORCS course that seemed to benefit the smaller-d isplacement and more nimble two-strokes. Woods went down while leading on the first lap, and then he dropped and killed his bike while running second. He ended up fourth and saw his three-race win streak come to an with an 8.60 I. The AHA has announced that Davey Coombs has resigned from the AHA board of directors. A successor has not yet been named. Coom bs had been a corporate member of the AMA board since 200 I. "It is with great regret that I have decided to resign from the board at this time and allow some o ne else with mo re time to pick up my spo t," Coom bs said. "I en joyed my time on th e board immensely, and I will remain a strong advocate for the association." "The directors, staff, and membership of the AMA extend to D avey our sincere appreciation for his service, said to Rick Gray, chairman of the AHA board of directors. "I rode every day at VIRthen came out to the school , so I rode for seven days straight," said Lynn. "It was good to go back to the basics .
