"I e njoyed the fact th at the club sta rt ed us o ut at a speed
average that allowed the riders to get warm ed up before t hey
sent us to racing," Manning said. "Afte r warm ing up, we rod e a
lot o n time and had a fairly easy race up to the first gas. Th en.
with the te mperature rising, we raced off to a pretty good te st
section tha t rem inded me just how old I was !"

to hea vy rain. the original May 2 date had to be re sched uled
for May 9. Mother's Day.

Sandw iched be tw e en the Knights was Glen Myatt . w ho took
third, losing secon d place o n a tie breaker.
Reed and Nat han tied . bot h comi ng in on :30. while Nola n
and Myatt missed it by o ne seco nd, bo th co ming in on :31. O n
the next emergency check. Reed took charg e. dropping a 7:444 .
wh ile the Knights and Myatt each dr op ped e ight-plus.
In the last tes t section, Myatt dom inated on his KTM 450 , but
it stillwas n't en ough to steal sec ond from Nolan.
"The trails we re a litt le more open, not as technical," Myatt
said. '" don't do as we ll in the tech nical stuff."

Reed exclaimed . '" didn't have any hang-ups in the test sections.

"I had a great day." an astoun ded We lch said. "It was a lot of
fun. I can't believe it. I guess I just got lucky."
