"My range of motion is not very good, which affects my strength. Iv. Hangtown Iwas on a top- seven pace, then lost it halfway through the mo to . I've done some PT, and I can tell it's getting better. So my goal's to be in the top 5-6." Ferry finished fifth in the first mot o . Many were glad to see Steve Lamson back in action after his giant get-offat Hangtown. The Dirt Diggers.com rider wadded hard at Prairie City on the ultra gnarlydownhill double. "I went huge, hit, and my wheel stuck in a hay bale Lamson said. "I cart," wheeled and hit my head pretty good , started seeing stars, and my face was pretty bloody. I was so pissed, because I was up to sixth place with four laps to go. But on the bright side, Iwas pretty lucky." Lamson raced back to seventh (11-9) at High Point. supercross season with injur ies. From there, Hepler stud ied Walker's lines, and it paid off when he took the second spot back late in the race. "I rode a little tight at the beginning o f the mota," said Hepler. " I didn't know what to do, I was just happy to get such a good start. I was a little nervous in front of this crowd. He had better lines, but I started rid ing smoother, and I was able to pick better lines and get by him." " Bra e rode a good race ," Walker said . " H e has a lot of miles on th is track. Not to take anything away from him though, because he rode strong. I think he sat on me for awhile and saw my good lines, so I'll have to watch the tapes in this next mota and figure out what e lse we can do. " A fe w spots behind the ir battle came a n eye-opening performance from Team Green rookie Ryan Sipes, wh o was making h is Pro -clas s National de bu t . With a headache, he decided to c r u ise for a few laps before calling it a day. Stewart served up a headache for everyone else in mota two. He didn't get a great start on his twostroke machine, but he s imply pinned it up the ins ide of High Point's sweeping first t u rn and blew past everyone else, leaving him with the lead by turn two. From there it was all over: Stewart would w in by 30 seconds. Little changed behind him either, as Walker and Hepler again hooked up in a figh t for runner- up. This allowed Br o w n t o close the gap and take third. " I got around Walker and Br o c was already gone, you know?" Brown said. " I figured I could just crash and end up in last or just ride smooth and take third. I'm ju st trying to be consistent as we work on my bike. It's getting a lo t better, and I'm getting more used to it ." eN HIGH POINT RA CEWAY MOUNT MORRIS, P ENN SYL VANIA R ESULTS: MAY 30, 2004 (ROUND 2 OF 12) MOTO I: I. James Stewart (Kaw) : 2. "With motocross, the track can change every lap," Hutter said. "The speeds are much higher [than with supercross], so it's much more challengingto find that plush setting that alsoworks for the supercross obstacles that they 're buildingat the tracks thesedays. On top of that, with supercross, you're hitting everything pretty much straight on . Obstacles at the Nationals come at you from all angles, which can make suspension setup very diffICUlt. Bottom line is you have so many more things to consider with the outdoors than with supercross." What big spenders Craig Andenon and Heath Vossare! "Where's my bock]" said Voss to Andenon. When pressed for what kind 01 bet he'd won, Voss lessed up; "We always seem to line up next to eachother," he said. "So when we were at Vegas, Ando [Anderson] leaned averto me and said, 'I'll be you a buck I get a better start.,.. Voss won the bet. "Yeah, and I tried to get him to go dou ble or nothing at Hangtown, and he wouldn't," said Andenon laughing. Kawasaki's Paul Carpenter was not a happy man on Sunday. He looked as white as a ghost and was unableto race after getting slammed by a bout of food poisoning. As a result, he took himself out of Team Green's lineup. "I don 't really know what happened," Carpenter said. "The doctor said it could have been something I ate 12 hours ago or 24 hours ago. Ali i know is that I felt fine when I got to the track yesterday [for Saturday's practice], and I started feeling honible when I was bouncing around . I didn't gel halfway back to my rental car before I puked, then I couldn't sleep at all lastnight... A Jeremy McGrath retum to Supercross? It's not exactly a new rumor, but .....McGrath is going out of his mind because of inactivity," a source dose to the eight-time Supercross champ said. KTM's Ron Heben was asked when the 250cc four-stroke is going to show up here in the States. "Our four-stroke devel0pment is going well in the GPs," said Heben of Ben Townley's racing over in Europe . '"II all goes as pIamed, we'll have the 250 (fourstroke)
