T A fundraising event will take place june 2125 at Second Creek Raceway in Denver, Colorado, the event showcasing a weeklong motorcycle endurance race to raise money for children's charities with riders completing as many miles as poss ible on a closed-circuit road racing course. Local and national motorcycle racers will ride from sunup to sundown from june 21 to June 25 . It is estimated that as many as 100 racers will log nearly 20,000 miles during the week. The event will then continue with a full weekend of AMA-sanctioned sprint raeingJune 26-27 w ith the Motorcycle Roadracing Assoc iation (MRA). Over 4000 additional miles are anticipated to be pledged by the MRA racers during these two days. Wood managed the career of the late Joey Dunlop for more than 10 years. Known to his friends as "DG, " the 57-year-old was a well-respected figure in the world of motorcycle racing and was involved in competitive racing even in the last days of his life. The one-time racer, who competed in the 1970s in distinctive checkered leathers, spent his retirement guiding other riders to success. He is perhaps best remembered for his strong alliance with five-time Formula One World Champion Dunlop, about whom he once said: "There will never be another JD." The Road 2 Recovery Foundation has announced the appointment of Dan White to the position of executive director of The Road 2 Recovery Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that is dedicated to helping AMA licensed mo tocro ss members with financial assistance if they susta in career-ending injuries as well as pro vide mo uv ati onal, emotional and sp iritual sup port to thes e individuals and their families .
