As for Roncada, the rider who many thought would provide Stewart's biggest challenge wasn't even a fac tor at all. A case of food poisoning struck the Frenchman on Sunday morning, and he struggled to 17th overall via 28- I0 scores . As a result, Hepler has moved into second in the early-season standings, with Brown right behind him and Stewart, of course, in front with a perfect 100 point total. For an ever-brief moment in the first mota, it looked like Hepler could come out of High Poin t with a win . The 17year-old snagged the holeshot in mota one, and the fans erupted with the local boy, wearing a helmet painted in the Pittsburgh Steelers motif, out front . Then I fell at the beginningof the second moto , so I had to catch up again." 188 Davi Millsaps 18t h (22-1 I) Millsaps continued to struggle through his early forays in pro motocross, but the 16-year-old did finallysco re his first National point by fighting past Broc Sellards for I Ith in moto two . "I don't know what it is, but I better figure it out soon," said Millsaps, who just held offWalker to win his qualifying heat earlier in the day. "I got a good start in my heat race, but the n in the motos, I rode like a chicken . I'm just not riding like myse lf out there." Eric Sorby 5th (6-6) Sorby came to High Point with a sore knee and little practice time, but he ran stro ng enough to take a top- five ride. Most notably, Sorby was the only 12Sccclass rider to clear High Point's infield triple consistently. 105 Ryan Hughes I It h (5-36) Ryn championship hope s took o's a big d ive in mo to two . After catching RyanSipes to snag fifth late in the first moto , he overshot a tum and took a detour early in moto two . While trying to catch back up, he crashed and was hit in the hand by another rider when he went to pick his bike up. Hughes was in enough pain to pull off (which must be a considerable amount of pain for Ryno), but he should be ready for Southwick in tw o weeks . Josh Grant 13th (25 -7) Grant shocked everyone with a holeshot and runaway in Hangtown's first moto , but High Point didn't start so well for the rookie. But in mota two he rode solidlyto take seventh , proving his speed from California was not a nuke. 40th Anniversary
