Wilson, Poole, Mcintosh . It was one of those days when the same names keep popping up, over and ove r again, chasing one another rap idly around the track in various different combinations. Though the turnout was light - 150 entries - for the inaugural Sandia Classic AHRMA vintage MX national, those who did make the trek to New Mexico were rewarded with an exceptional track. The circuit was toned down slightly from the previous day's postvintage national. but it still offered S Wes Poole gets some serious hang time on a Rickman Triumph twin. He won Classic SOO Expert and Open Age Expert. a multitude of well-designed jumps that gave th e pre-197S machines plenty of air time w ith o ut punishing them upon landing. The tall berms allowed riders to choose between railing around the top o r going low and squaring off the turns . And the dirt.. . well, it was deep, dark and resistant to becoming dusty.
