Y ;JYY A look at two Rick Peterson big-bore YZs STORY AND PHOTOS BY BLAKE CONNER tho ugh few owners' egos will allow them to admit it openly, at least in front of their buddies, the new 450cc four-stroke motocross bikes are a total handfulon most MX tracks . I carne to this realization long ago, and although I love ridingthem in the desert or on certain tracks, I stick to the 250 fourstokes . I love the fact that I can floga 250 four- : stroke like a 125 tiddler and yet still go to the inside line and get off the comer with authority. However, I have to admit that the 250 fourstrokes, even with a pipe, leave me beggingfor just a little more power. That is exactly why Rick Peterson and RPMs do what they do. They make awesome bikes even better. After riding tihe project Kawasaki KX 167 (Cycfe News issue #44, November 5, 2003) that RPMs built for me last fall, I knew that I needed to sample one of Peterson's fourstokes, because tihat tiddler was a missile. Besides, I've really taken a likingto tihe motors with valves and carns in tihe dirt. RPMs offers .flve different packages for the 200 1-'04 n250F, and the same basic packages are available for the '04 KX250F and tihe Suzuki RM-Z250. A S2 MAY 26,2004 • CYCLE NEWS
