SANDERSON BINGHAMTON, NY, APR. 18 M o re than SOO of the most talented racers on the East Coast came to Broo me -Tioga for the second District 3 points race of the seaso n and t he second day of a Lo retta Lynn' s area qualifier. Sunday's race program featured all the reg ular District classes. combined with Loretta Lynn's qualifiers fo r modified bike s. Heavy thunder stor ms and very high winds moved into the area late in the first half of the race program and turned Hurd Mot orsports' nearly pe rfec t track into a quagmire w it hin minutes . The severe show ers only lasted about an hour, but the damage was do ne . In fact . t he muddy conditi ons made scoring the first 125cc Ama teur Modi fie d q ua lifier m ota ne a r ly impossible. so the class was reru n after some extensive track work . By that time , it was too lat e to com ple t e t he ra ce prog ra m , so th e seco nd motos we re cance led , and eac h class was scored by its first mota. Pamart was still o ut fro nt at the start o f la p tw o, b ut Eastman was c ha rg ing; he passed Spe ar (o r sec o nd and was o n Pamart's rea r tire w hen the tw o e xited the fron t. Spear wa s rele gate d to third, Sterntt move d to fo urt h. and Caleb Miller was fifth. Eastman passed Pamart fo r 'he lead o n lap three . The top four on lap two we re Pam art , Spear, Ace to and Jo e l De ngle r, and that o rder remained pretty consisten t until the last lap, w hen De ngle r moved up to third, displacing Aceto and Sean Matth ews to fo urth and fifth. What a great way to start a day of race s! The 2S0cc C class has see n some new faces in the top three th is season. At Sweney Cycle Park in Brush, Colorado, this also proved to be t he ca se . O nly se cond -place finish er Br ian Chappe l finishe d in the to p thre e last se ason , and he on ly did so th re e t imes, placing th ird ea ch t ime . T his day's first-place finishe r, Brian Brab y, just moved up t his se as o n fro m t he Schoolboy class, and third-place finisher Dust in Ha st ings , w ho h as th r e e years of racing expe rience , has improved gre atly this season. T he morn ing mota bega n wi th Braby winning the ho leshot and staying in the front for the rest of the race. Hast ings was not in the to p three as they ro unde d t he first come r, but he put himself in second place by the e nd of the first lap. Chappe l came out of the gate third and kept that pos it ion th rougho ut the race . At the end of the race, the top thre e had not changed th eir positions, but they built qu ite a lead and eve n lapped some of their competit ors . After a small but ve ry Windy st o r m, t he afternoon mot a began w ith ano the r new face : Zac hary Sluyte r. w ho had finishe d fift h in the first moto , came out with the holeshot . Braby was right be hind him, and he passed him for the lead be fore the e nd of the first lap. Brab y ende d up finishing first , with a big lead .
