when the mach ine was first introduced .
"This is kind of a treat for me, to see
these old bikes ," Myerscough . "I love
motocross . I th ink it's the bes t sport . I
just love rid ing moto rcycles."
Truc hinski made t he switch from big
Ho nda to litt le Suzuki at Cahu illa, as he
rode a clean 1982 Suzu ki RM 125 to I-I
victories in t he Ultima 125cc Expert
class. O nce again, Truchinski was spectacular, using up eve ry inch of the high
line in the ber ms to rail aro und the
tr ack , using momentum to keep the little yellow RM pinned.
" It 's funny - t his t rac k is kind of
rough , but if you take the right lines,
it's smooth ," Truchinski said. "O n the
125 I could just pin it almost all the way
around the track and not even get
tir ed . O uts ide was the fast way to go . It
was a blast today. Love it . More guys
need to co me out."
The age classes hosted so me great
racing at th e Cahui lla Creek ro und as
well. Per haps most notable were the
40+ Expert dices put on by Elk Grove,
California's Steve Parker and Paul
Dunne.
Like
Truchinski
and
Myerscough , the two were absolutely
tied together around the track in the
lrst mota until Dunne ran into pro bs aboard his Maico 490, allowing
'83 Honda CR480- moun te d Parker
scape with the w in and Allen McKay
into second aboard an immaculate
varna 430CR. Dunne wo uld slip
in the mota, but he was
oto two , and he once again
, this time the two going
to the finish, where
Dunne took the win. Alas, his 6- 1 was
only good eno ugh for th ird overa ll in the
class, behind Parker ( 1-2) and McKay (23). Parker said that he had a ball dicing
with Dunne in fo ur motos - the two ran
second and t hird respective ly in the
Ultima 500cc Expert class as well.
"It was a lot of fun being able to ride
w ith
Rich Truchinski and Brian
Myerscough," Parker said. "I'm just a regular Joe compared to those guys."
Dunne was hardly disappointed with his
performance, considering his Maico nearly
ate itself in the first 40 + Expert mota.
"It started to seize, so I pulled the
clutch in and saved the top end, " Dunne
said. "Then for the seco nd mota, we had
to fatt en it up a bit, but it worked . I had a
lot of fun out the re ."
