struggle for fifth betwee n Doyle and Nighman.
Butle r and Addy batt led fo r seventh until Addy
foun d his groove agai n an d st arte d pass ing
ride rs. Dieter was loo king smooth and fast over
t hat loam y so il, but Mitch was no mo re t han
two bikelengths off Diete r's fender for the last
five or six laps. There was no doubt that Mitch
was studyi ng Die te r' s eve ry line . gro ove and
move, until finally the white flag came out. and
Mitch pinned it. Absolutely ripping through the
enhanced rhythms section, he dived inside the
o ff-c amb e r cor ner, c rac ked it aga in - a nd
looped it o ut and wen t do wn . Pre matu rel y
end ing his challenge for th e lead wou ld prove
fat al fo r Mitch 's race day, as e xtremely high
w inds and miserable te mperatures led to t he
riders' vo t ing t o e nd th e da y afte r t he first
mot os. Dieter won the 125cc Expe rt class, with
Mitch, Mike , Addy and Doyle filling o ut the top
five. Nighman, Butler, Klein, Sheerer and Mike
Lengo finished ou t the top 10.
