Auten (099 ) wheelies off the line in mota two, ahead of Shone Sewell (827), Matt Maier (644) and the rest of the 250cc A pack at Red Bud MX. we re Matt Maier, Joe Pen rod , Travis Sewell and Michae l Zylstra, all going at wa rp speed in spite of the winds that blew at more than 30 m ph all day long . Sew ell was the first rider to make his move , gett ing by both Pe nrod and Maie r to take the le ad , but Aut en w asn ' t going to le t t he Ind iana speedster get away. and he was soon hot o n his heels. For th e next four laps. two of AHA District 14'5 finest A ride rs we nt at it tooth and nail, putt ing a good cushio n between the mselves and Penrod, Maier and Zylstra, who were all loo king for a top -three finish. With the white flag ou t, the race came down to a o ne- lap spri nt. and Aute n took off like a bull after a red cape . As the two riders re-emerged from t he launch -pad sec tio n of the trac k, Auten was now out front, and Sewell was looking fo r a way back into the lead. Auten took the checkered flag with only a couple of bikelengths to spare. Pe nrod was able to ho ld off the charges of Zylstra, who had found a way aro und Maier. In moto two, Tech-Ca re Suspensio n ride r jason McDonald got out of the gate first , pu lling t he pack aro und the fre sh ly tilled first tu rn , while Pe nrod , Sewell an d Auten gave chase. Penrod he ld off the tw o first-moto fron t runners for a co uple of laps but was overtake n in the valley befo re lap three was in the books. McDonald was tryi ng hard to im prove o n his moto-o ne 17th, and he held the battling Sewell and Auten at bay for three laps , but that w as it . Auten sneaked past Sewell after the ski jump with tw o laps to go and held on fo r his second 2S0cc A mo to w in of the day. Sewell was second in ea ch moto, as well as second ove rall. Penrod looked great on his Nevins Motorsports KTM thu mper, finish ing thi rd in bo th motos. Maier was fo urt h, w hich mimicked his overall score. McDonald w as fifth in moto two, but his bad first mo to give fifth overa ll to Zylstra (4-6) . In the Over 3S affair, john Sier w o n bo t h moto s with room to spare. Sco tt Kirkpa trick (2-2) used good starts and smart riding to gra b the runner-up spot, while Matt Kiser (4-3) used co nsiste nc y to mak e th e last r un g of th e podium his. RESUL TS WOBB LER: I.
