second lap. Don Mullen and Shawn Baer joined McGrane in the
battle for th ird . With Klin efelter guarding the low line, Lewis
wen t to the outside, and after running several laps side by side,
Lew is took the lead for good on lap four. Baer pressured Mulle n
fo r third to the end but came up short.
The Sports ma n final was a fe llow-t he-leader affair, with
Lewis taking the lead from Baer. 600cc A winner Ricky Winsett,
and Douglas.
After finishing a disappointing third in one of the Over 30
heats , Todd Kendig was relegated to the outside at the start of
the final. He made a great start , entering the third turn severa l
lengths in front of Tom Majeski, Rich Mellinger, Dallas Baer and
Joe Dohm. Wh ile the four fought over seco nd, Kendig pulled
several lengths more in fro nt. Mellinger too k second o n lap
three, with Dallas pressuring him to the end for the spot. Dohm
fell on lap five.
Doom came back and too k the Ove r 40 lead fro m Lowell
Wherley, Mike Kean e and Chris Davis. Keane too k second o n
la p tw o , but W herley retoo k it fo r good on lap fo ur. Jim
Ch apma n a nd Dave Smith battled Dav is fo r fo urth , wit h
Chapman taking the spot.
Shawn got into some close finals. In the 600cc A cont est , he
pressur ed Winsett the en tire distance, with Jaso n Ise nnock
displacing Douglas for third on lap six. In 750cc act ion, Shawn
unveiled his new GNC 1200 Harley-based machine. Isennoc k's
Triumph too k the lead, but Shawn stayed d ose on a track that's
a litt le short to let a Harley stretch its legs.
Among the double winners, Cassidy Heise r too k the 65cc by
default whe n othe r riders crashed in the heat and the opening
lap of the final. In the B5cc (7- 11) class, he earned the win on
his Action Motor5 ports-sponso red Honda . Tyler Kidwell too k
the lead from De re k Hersh , Heiser and Max Harvat. Heiser got
by Hersh on t he third lap and started press uring Kidwell. He
slipped under him as they started the final lap and held on for
the win.
O t he r double-cl ass winne rs included Shayna Texter, w ho
easily won the B5cc (12-15) and 1000c Modified classes, and her
older brother Cory, who won the 450cc B and 500cc Two -Valve
classes .
After winning the 250cc B class, Brandon Robinson had a
good shot at a double but sprained his ankle in a hole on the
ope ning lap of the I25cc final. Austin Greenland won.
After leading most of the 250cc A race , Doug Reinert too k
the win by being the last one standing when the ot her riders
crashed out of contention .
