By JOHN KREPS MILLPORT, OH, MAR. 28 S pring is here, and motocross has begun running rampant in the Buckeye State, which has one of the largest populations of motocross racers and tracks in the cou ntry. With the good weather, tracks allover are opening their doors fo r the race-starved fanatics. Spring ValleyRaceway in northeast Ohio not only opened its doors for the first race of the year, this was also its first race as a member of the growing AM A District 12 sanctioning body. "The Valley" has bee n around since the late 1980s . but a recent change o f owner ship has taken it in this new direction. Promoters Eric and Lynn Klein , along with an all-new staff, have rea lty gwen the facility a facelift, and more updates are in the works. More than 300 racers attended the track 's inaugura l Distri ct 12 event, and th is pro vided some superhot race action on the 2 In·minuteper-lap circuit. Chris Carr of Uniontown, Oh io, has been really stepping up his game since last season, and he came away with fo ur moto wins on the day. Riding a KX85, Carr left the battles be hind him and topped Yamaha jockey Sean Kilkenny in both Junior 8Scc motes, with Curt Gaski followi ng in th ird both times. Carr also han d ily took both motos of t he 85cc Extra division, leaving him unde feated on the day. In the slighdyolder Senior 85cc and Supennini classes , Kyle Ditcher of Uhrichsville, Ohio , was unstoppable o n his way to his own (o ur-mota sweep. Tony Hursey and Dannie Pe ironek kept Ditcher honest and filled out the pod ium spots in both classes, wit h Hursey getti ng the nod for second in Superm ini and Peironek returning the favor in 8Scc ( 12· 15) action. Spring Valley is also known (or a tremendous Pee Wee circuit, separate from the full-size-bike trac k.
