Rocky Mountain AlV-MC/World Off-Road Championship Series
ne of the things that make off-road racing so unique is that not only do you have to deal with your
competition but many times the elements as well. And there were plenty of both at the Rocky
Mountain A1V-MClWorid Off-Road Championship Series in central Utah. Over the course of the
weekend, the nearly I()()() riders who attended the fifth round of the series were tested by just
about everything Mother Nature could dish out, such as high winds, blowing dust , warm temperatures, cold temperatures, light rain and snow, and even hail. Throw in a challenging course and you have a good,
true off-road race . And the one rider who dealt with all of these things best was Nathan Woods, who ran away
with his second win of the series.
Woods, a former full-time motocrosser, certainly proved in Utah that he's catching on to this off-road stuff by
coping with adverse weather conditions and the semitechnical and demanding racecourse that he and the other 30plus Pro riders faced this weekend in Price. In fact, he more than coped with it - he conquered it.
"I think I proved that I'm one of the top guys, and I hope that I can keep doing what I'm doing," Woods said from
the Montclair Yamaha/Zip-Ty RacingIYoshimura pits afterward.
The approximately eight -mile-a-Iap racecourse reminded many of the riders of a technical "desert" race that featured plenty of ridge-top trails, twisty ravine sections, few wide-open (but relatively short) areas, talcum powder-
