Ellis was even mo re impressive on Sunday, being the only rider to run consistently in the 9s. Ellis ran a low e.t. 9.88 en route to a sem ifinal bye, whic h landed him in his third straight final cou nting his 200 3 World Finals win. In the other semifinal Millho lland got by Woska . 9.98 to 10.04 to make his second-ever final. The veteran Ellis, who took his first-ever 600 Supe rSport w in Atlanta in 1999. was destined to take this one, cruising by Millholland in the final, 9.92 to 10.06. The new Lee's Performance 1000 SuperSport class is beginning to live up to its preseason hype wit h a full field of bikes and some spirited competition. Keith Dennis rode the MSP GSXR to his second straight number-one qualifying effort at 9.3 11150, followed by Ch ip Ellis on the Team Kawasaki ZX-IO at 9.32, Ryan Schnitz on the Muzzy ZX-IO at 9.37 and Tommy Por che on the Brad Mattei-tuned GSXR at 9.37. Denn is looked strong through eliminations , but as it happened in Gainesville. he inexplicably stumbled in the final. After identical .494 reaction times De nnis couldn't get the bike down the trac k smoothly. as Schnitz took the win for Muzzy with a 9.47 to Denn is' shut-off 10.58 . A nice Yamaha vs. Harley rivalry is building in the Y amaha Hot Rod Cruiser class w ith a tr io of V-Rods taking on the Patrick Racing Yamaha Warr iors . Gainesville winner Jamie McNaughton grabbed the number-one qualifying spot on his V-Rod at 9.58/ 139, followed by reigning cham p Mark Unde rw ood on the Patrick Racing Warrio r at 9.7 1. McNaughton broke and lost to the V-Rod of AHDRA champ Tripp Nob les in the semifinals, as Underwood cruised to his second straight final with a stro ng 9.65 on a single. Nob les, who won 600 Super5port back in 1995, had a nearly identical reaction time to Underwood in the final but fell off his earlier pace and ran a 9.95 as Underwood took his first win of the year and the points lead, at 9.771137. eN A TlANTA DIlAGWAY COMMERCE, GEORGIA RISULJS: APRI L 3-4, 2004 (ROUND .--
