The next race was anticipated to be
the race of the day. Pat Mooney a d his
'62 Manx were lined up next to R I'er,
the only American to win a race at the
infamous Isle of Man. As the nag dropped,
Mooney took the lead, with Roper in a
close second. Mooney appeared to be
running a com fortable pace while Roper
looked ready to take advantage of any
mistakes. They remained nose to tail for
three laps. Roper's bike then broke a
rocker box , and he had to pull up .
Mooney went on to win and hold the lead
in the championship points, with Bruce
Yoxsimer on a '68 AJS in second and Larry
Pe o n's Seeley Manx com ing home in
Satu rday
