ree circuits but only one overall winner - that's what happens when three major enduro series are held on the same weekend, on the same day, at the same venue . But SEAAs Nolan Knight didn't care if only one rider got to celebrate afte rward, since it was he who was doing all of the celebrating. The Kawasaki rider took the overall win deep down in crawfish country at the tri-sanctioned Cajun Classic Enduro, which. up until this year, was a round of the AMA National Enduro circuit. But National or no National, the Cajon Classic continued on as three southern circuits all met in the Kisatchie National Forest. where the Acadiana Dirt Riders, hosts of the event, gave the racers more than 80 gro und miles on which to do some serious battling. With more than 300 riders entered, the competition was kickin' with some Cajun spice, as all the racers fro m the three diffe rent series vied for that number-one spot . Knight rod e his Kawasaki to the win at the first enduro of the 2004 SERA season . "I really fee l like I just got lucky today," Knightsaid with a bigsmile. "I hurt my arm last week. and it's been giving me some problems, so I just set a pace and tried to stick with it. and I guess it paid off:' Finishing secon d through fifth overall, divided only by tie-breaker points, we re BjEC's Steve Leivan and then SEAAs Carsten Cagle. Glen Myatt and Nathan Knight. Starri ng in the Open A class was SEAAs Steve Nicolas Sr.• who placed sixth overall. Nicolas had some problems in the first test section . losing a couple of minutes more than did his competition. "I got off in a ditch and got tied up in some trees. where I lost some time, blowing my whole day," Nicolas said. "But I guess I did all right in the overall: ' Filling in the rema ining spots in the top 10 we re SEAAs Landon Carter. who too k seventh ove rall; TSCEC's Lynn Bailey and Don Hogan. who placed eighth and ninth; and SEAAs Frank Davis. who to pped it off in the number-I 0 spot . Some up-and-coming riders in the B classes showed that their ''A cards" should be coming pretty soon . Takingthe overall B trophy was SEAAs B-200cc racer Michael johnson, who was also celebrating his 17th birthday. johnson . riding his KrM. finished with a score of 33. while second-placed B-200cc T 40th Anniversary
