Grewe was trouble right off the start. "My bike just went dead in the grasstrack," said Carter. "I lost a minute on the first lap." Howe ver, after tu rning the fastest lap times and Hollingshead took the win by one second, on the remaining three laps, Carter managed to close the gap, finishing just 18 seconds behind Reed . Taking the 200 cc A class was 17-year-old Jeff Parke . The high school junior has been steadily moving up through the ranks since the first hare scrambles of the season. He finished 16t h at the first round, I Ith at the second event, and he finally bro ke into the top 10 at th is event, tak ing seventh. Parke finished the even t in one hour, S5 minutes and ffve seconds ~ more than three mi nu te s fast e r th a n his closest 20 0cc A com pet it ion, Peter Bordes, wh o took sec ond place in the class. "I had a good ride afte r the first lap," Parke said. "I had te rrib le arm pump, but I had a grea t t ime . I d idn't fall all day.
