A s t he sun ro se o ut of the east, th e semi~rozen dirt qU
ickty began to thaw at Hicko ry Ridge MX as nearly 600 ride rs and their families braved t he cold at round t w o of the
O klahoma State Champio nship Series. Situated
in a sm all valley just so ut h of War ner. Oklaho ma, Hickory Ridge 's black dirt and rutted
corners seemed to be the selling point for many
of the riders o n this weekend.
The day got 011 to a good start. and so did
KTM· mounted Mason Glo rioso , in the O pe n
O utlaw c lass . G iving ch ase we re t he YZ F·
mo unt ed Za ch Blackwe ll. Team Green/Shilt
ride r Dennis [cncn. and Cory Gree n, aboard his
mighty Hon da 4 50 . Ear ly on, t he battle lor
se con d began to shape up, as Blackw e ll and
Jonon traded pos itions back and fort h, all th e
w hile tryin g t o reel in Glorioso. [onc n fre ed
himse ll Iro m Blac kwell's grip . an d then he
close d the gap between himself and Glorioso
and made a pass lor the lea d. The mote finished
with [onon in the point position, just ahea d of
Glorioso. Blackwell, Green and Brett Cue.
Moto two loo ked very much like t he first. as
Glorioso o nce aga in nailed do wn the start,
lollowed this time by Green and Blackwell. Just
beh ind t hem , Jono n was wo rking furio usly to
make up grou nd o n the lead pack. Gree n began
pre ssu ring t he KTM ride r early on , an d bo th
were lee ling pressure Irom Blackwe ll, w ho was
trying to make something happen as wel l. Stuck
in traffic. Jonon was lorced to watch the batt le
up Iront go all the way down to the finish line .

overall. Glorioso finished sec o nd in th e rnoto,
w ith Gree n third and Jonon lo urth .
Afte r the Schoolboy class ro cket ed ou t o f
the gate , Jonon was spotted out Iront early, as
Nathan Co x and Trey Canard gave chase . Not
to be denie d, Jono n turned up t he inte nsity and
simply marched 011 to the w in. Following him to
the chec kers were Co x and Canard.
The second moto was more of the same , as
[on on, Cox and Canard again came home in
that order. Trae No rton pilo ted his Suzuki home
in lo urt h, lollowed by Justin Thurman in filth.

storming to victory in all four Pro-dass motos.
The Honda 01 Ho usto n/Fo x rider ha d t he
spectators shak ing th eir heads and cla pping
the ir hand s at the same t ime , applauding his
incred ible speed.
O ther riders taking multiple -class wins were
A.J. Gea rha rt , in the 50cc (7-8) and 65cc Junior
classes; Justin Bogle , in the 65 Senior and 8Scc
Junior classes; Trey Canard, in the 85cc Sen ior
and 85 cc Open classes ; and Blackw ell. in the
250cc Intermed iate , Open Outlaw and Fo ur Stroke classes.
