McCrummen sta rting mid pack, tho se who
know McCru mmen knew they were in fo r a
treat, and the Team Gree n KawasakifThousand
Oaks/FMF/ TCR/5 hi ft -bac ked rider didn't
disappoint. By th e midpoint of the eight-lap
race, McCrummen had zapped six ride rs and
was hound ing Davis. However, Davis somehow
he ld off McC rum me n's cons ta nt attem pts to
take over t he lead, and the two came across
the finish line wheel to wheel. Davis got the
nod over McCrummen, and Gar rison finished
up in third.
"O nce I caught up to Davis, I just settled
into his pace instea d of mine, and before I knew
it, the w hite nagwas out," said McCr ummen. "I
mean, Davis rode good, but I guarantee you ,
tha t's not going to happen again."
McCrummen's guarantee was certainly
fu lfille d in mo t a two , a s he gra b be d the
holeshot, ahead of Davis and Cox . After a brief
first-lap challenge from Davis, McCrumme n left
the racing be hind him, setting a pace that no
one else could match, and the final result was a
huge win. Garrison kept Davis honest unt il he
went down midmo to , an d Davis went o n to
take the runner- up spo t with a 1-2 score, while
Garrison (3-3) re bo unded fo r a well-deserved
third overall on the day.
