"I got the holeshot ," Bartolini
said. "That made it easy. I knew
the others were a long way back,
and I just took my time and didn't push too hard . I am tired,
though , so I can't imagine that I
can race fo r the win in the last
race ."
Melotte grab bed a w in in the
final heat race and pulled himself
to with in one point of winning
the overall. Everts pus hed hard
afte r another bad start to finish
second a long way ahead of local
rider Daniel Bricco .
"I found all three races fun,
but tough ," Everts said. "In the
last race, Chiod i was really fast, and he
gave me a good tempo, t hen I passe d him
and chased Bricco. O nce I got him, I was
okay. It was fun."
Everts finished second and took the
overall.
"I missed the start again," Everts said.
"Near the end of the race, I tried to catch
Melotte , but it was not easy. I pushed really hard , tho ugh. It was good practice for
the longer motos at the Grand Prix."
Everts clinched the victory with 1-8-2
re sults, with L&M Yamaha teammate
Melotte finishing a close second with 2-9-1
results . Third place we nt to former World
SOOcc Motocross Champ ion Bartolini with
3- 1- 17 finishes.
eN
he has o nly spent a few hours on the 4S0cc
machine going into the weekend.
"My feeling is good," he said. "I am 36
years old, and that is to o old for
motoc ross, but if I keep riding like this, 1go
foreve r. I was second in the first race going
into the first corner, but Stefan is so
smooth, my arms pumped up after two
laps, and I had to let him go."
But his second-heat holeshot ended
with a win.
Everts' race was lost o n the start. The
Be lgian did his best to fight through the
field, only to end up eighth. Having started
in 13th on lap two, Everts could only pass
another five riders in the last nine laps.
"I made a mistake at the start," Everts
said. "Passing here is impossible. I tried my
best but then made another mistake when
I collided w ith another rider and went
down, losing some places."
