Hue rt a fo und t he high- speed , hardpacked layout of the Lake Elsino re Motocross Track to his liking, as he swe pt the SOcc O pe n, Supermini and aocc Expe rt classes. Memoli was equ ally impressive o n his CRF250R, as he wen t four for four to top both the 12Scc Inter mediat e and Schoolboy fields. Each of th e two a occ Open mot os we re Hue rta runaways, as the Kawasaki ride r beat eve ryone to the first turn and then continued to pull away until the end. Travis Baker had his hands full with Trevo r Reis in mota one before gaining t he uppe r han d to finish in seco nd . Baker repeate d his ru nner-up pe rfonnance in m ota two fo r se co nd ove ra ll, ove r Re is . Dakota Gar ner and Bren nan Tow le finish ed fourth and fifth ove rall, respectively. Huerta wasn't as q uick out of the gate in e ither Supennini race , but the end resu lts were the same , as he was in the top spo t by lap two of each race and o nce again distanced himself from the field. Bake r claimed second overall after dicing with Gam e r and Reis in each moto. Reis (4-3) bested Gam e r (3-4) for third in the finafstand ings. Huerta would also return to top Reis in both 80cc Expe rt motos. Th e heat race began with Orr's caking the holeshot, but he overshot the Iir st- t ur n berm an d fo un d himse lf spinning coo kies on the concrete, trying to get back on the trac k. Ho ff assu med the lead and never loo ked back, wh ile Mall Anson and Fletche r gave c hase. Orr eve nt ually finish e d a res pectable fifth after finally gelli ng going well behind the pack. In the 2S0cc A ma in, Hoff again stru ck out in sea rc h of t he sweep . Or r, Ja so n Kerr and Fletcher tr ied to stay close. After having trouble in the ir heats , Orr and Ke rr batt led over sec ond, wh ile Hoff pulled anothe r disappea ring act . Griffin finished a close second. eN LAKE ELSINORE MOTOCROSS TRACK LAKE ELSINORE, CAUFORN IA RESULTS: FEBRUARY 1, 2004 ( R O UND 3) Midwest Supercross Swifte' Cenrer Hoff Knocks Off Two More at Midwest SX By BRAD UTCHER BROOKINGS, SD, JAN. 24 he second eve ning of the Midwest Supercross doub leheader was big - big cro wd , big jumps, big passes, big crashes. The first even ing was sold o ut, so the Swiftel Center staff set up more than 250 additional chairs on the uppe r dec k to he lp make room lor the expec ted larger crowd. Those seats were filled. as was much of the rider sect ion, whic h made the promoter happ y and the fire marsh al nervous. But bigger things we re in st o re t ha n just t he capacity crowd. Many of the riders wh o made the first night a success re turn e d to battle again . Some of T t hose r iders - such as D illo n C loyed , Seth Hanson and Kyle Olson - returned to the top of the pod ium as well. Coby Ockenga had won the 65cc (7-9) class on Fr iday nig ht , but o n this nig ht Je r ico Gae rt ner beat Austin Ande rson to the finish line, while Oc kenga had to settl e for third. Olso n swep t the 65cc ( 10- 12) and the B5cc (7- 11) classes the previous nigh t , but Ch ris Coch ran sta rt ed Sat urday evening off w ith an amaz ing win over Olson in the B5cc (7- 1I) hea t, in wh ich Cochran pass ed O lson wit h a mo ve th at w ou ld go unrivaled that night .
