J""\FMF/Spy-backed Daniel Sani cleaned house in the 125cc and 2S0cc Intermediate classes by posting a pair of wins at th e op en ing round of the GFI N orth Winter Series . Th e new ly redesigned Oatfield Raceway, w hich played host to the nearly 500 ride rs, w as a welcome sight to ma ny, as the layout had only underg one minor changes in th e last 10 years . But no w, passing lines we re plentiful, as severa l turns had as many as seven good , deep ruts. and the new layout rea lly leveled the playing field for those not so familiar with the trac k. Sani certainly found the tr ack to his liking, as he ace d all fou r motos on the day. Sani was in great co nd it io n, and aboard t he new Suzukis, the Clovis reside nt loo ked co nfident as ever. He was clearly the fastest guy in his classes , and he knew it . "T he switch fro m Honda to Suzuki w as one of the best th ings I could have don e ," said Sani. 'The bikes are fast and superreliable. Me and [Tony] Sherman had a good race , and I almost gave it to him w ith the mistakes I made . But I've been training rea l hard, and it's paying off." The Capitol Y amaha/ No r Ca l Mo to rs po rtsl Answer/Scott-backed Sherman pr o ved t o be one of Sam's to ughest competitors o n the day. The second 12Scc Inte rmed iate moto became a heated battl e between the duo fo r ne arly the e ntire race. Ho we ver, Sani hounded Sherman, and o nce he got by, he deve loped a gap tha t Sherma n co uld n't clos e . She rman claimed the runner-up spot with a 2-2 effort. Ch ar lie Morrison , co ming off a layoff due to injury, looked ne arly up to speed and claimed the runn e r-up spot , be hind Sani, wit h a 2-2 tally in the 2S0cc Int ermediate cl ass . Pilot ing a Tho usa nd Oaks/FMF Yamaha , Morrison w as just a tad off of Sarti's pace on the day, but not by muc h. Joining Sani in the cleaning cho res was Ross T hreet, w ho aced both of his 2S0cc No vice motos o n th e day. Taking advantage of a pair of good starts, the Honda pilot jum ped into the lead spot w ith in the first lap both times out and was ne ve r challenged all t he w ay to th e ch e c ke rs. Foll o w ing up be hin d T hree t was Suzuki -mounted Bo b Kirk, w ho chalked up a so lid 2-2 score on the day. Kyle Smith topped the do ub le-division field of 12Scc No vices wit h a 2-1 moto sco re o n the day. After toughing ou t a mid pack start in the first mo to and finishing seco nd , Smith went ou t in moto two, nabbed the ho leshot and checked out big-t ime . Curtis Sweezey, aboard a fourstroke Kawa saki , po unded out a pair of so lid motes for sec o nd on the day via a 1-2 scor e . Dus tin Enochs, Jesse Andrews and Jo rdan Rosa all came away w inne rs in the Mini ran ks, as Enochs fo und success in severa l of the 80cc classes , And rews topped the 60cc Novice class, and Rosa claimed victo ry in the SOcc (4-6) Stoc k Pee Wee Track class.
