Humphries and Rodriguez built a quick lead while battling with eac h othe r. Davis to ok over thir d, holding off O rden , Moo re and th e rest of the field . Hu mphr ies and Rod rigue z we re in a wild duel until Rod riguez developed mechanical tro ubles, giving Hum phries the easy race -o ne win . Jake Poole fou ght through th e pack to claim seco nd, while Davis led Orden t hrough the pipes for third. Humph ries jumped on O rd en and Moor e w he n th e gat e d roppe d for m oto t wo . Humphries sur ge d out to a big lead, eve n as Rodriguez, w ho had gott en a medio cre star t, was charging through the pack in a bid to catch him. Robert Imondie took ove r second place in t he rhythm sect ion, but both Rod riguez and Po o le got pas t him on t he w hit e -flag lap . Humphries got anothe r wire -to -wire tr iumph to earn the I25cc Junior crown , and Poole led Rod riguez and Imondie in the final res ults. The re was an equ ally imp ressive perform ance fro m little hotshot Hall, who squashed all come r s in th e 65 cc (9-1 I) co nte st . D ust y Humphrie s ripped the ope ning-mota holeshot , leading Jessee Brown and Tash Hansen out into batt le. Hall, warming up, came carving through the pack to grab t he le ad befor e the first lap was over. All suspens e vanished as Hall whistled ou t t o a huge lead . Hans e n ro de ha rd a nd sepa rated h imse lf fro m e ve ry o ne else , establishing a solid second . Dusty led the res t of the field past the tape. Dusty grabbed his second straight holeshot in the secon d stanza. leading Hansen and Hall. Then Hall made tw o quick passes to take over first, while Hanse n roared in front of Dusty to claim second . That became the finishing order, and Hall clinched the 65cc (9- 1I) title. In th e 125c c Jun ior main event , Antho ny absconded w it h the holeshot, followed by Ryan Holland and K Laude rmilk. Anthony quickly yle pu lle d ou t a ga p , wh ile Holl and had so me pr essure from Lauderm ilk; on t he t hird lap , Lauder milk made the pass. Laude rmilk's ru n in se cond place was sho rt -lived , t ho ugh , as he wen t into a co rne r a litt le too hot and fell off th e other side of th e berm . Holland quickly t o ok a dva ntage of Laud erm ilk's off-t rac k excursion and moved back into seco nd. When the checke re d flag came out , it was Anthony w it h a cle an w in. Holl an d finishe d se co nd . Laudermi lk picke d up t he th ird-place position , Devon Eli finished fourth , and fifth was Danny a Goodell. Don Boesp flug was t he man to beat in the co mbined 250cc Pro an d Inte rmed iat e main event. He got a perfect holeshot. Don quickly found Daniel Hamilton on his tail, hounding his every move . W hile the two of them battled , Jo sh ua Joh nso n sneaked up a nd jo ined th e batt le . As John so n t e m p ora r ily di st r ac t e d Hamilton, Beespflug pulled away enoug h to get some breat hing roo m. Riding in a lonely fourt h was t he Suzu ki-mounted Scotty Bloom, and Dustin Lafave fo ilowed in fifth. After a few laps, Ham ilton shoo k off Johnson and th en amazed t he c ro wd by quadding t h e bac k t r ipl e! Hamilto n mo ved bac k up t o give Boespflug so me pr ess ure but co uldn't ge t quit e clo se e no ugh t o make a pass o n t he Pro- class Veteran. Don (the lone Pro) too k the chec kers fo r t he w in in th e Pro class, w hile Hamilto n wo n the Intermediate port ion. Taking second was Johnso n, and roundi ng out the podium in th ird was Bloom. Lafave finished fourth. At the sta rt of the Four-Stro ke main even t, Don Boespflug and Just in Wh art on we nt into the first corn er togethe r; Boespflug swe pt wide to claim the official holeshot. George Kohler was do ing a little celeb rat ing of his own, as t he Over 50 Master competitor was announced as the new 2004 REM numberone plate ho lde r. Kohle r, who has w o n t he award before at Carlsbad, acquired the coveted REM numbe r-o ne p lat e afte r t urni ng in an impressive yearlong streak of to p finishes in his class. This week was no exception to that rule, as Kohler again top ped the field. After com ing in second to off-road ace Bill Maxim in th e first mota , Kohler came bac k to w in t he sec o nd moto and took the ove rall class victory with it. Maxim rod e his Kawasaki KX500 to the runnerup posit ion , while Ray Pisarski (4-3) took third.
