My OWN RACE: 68 Josh Hansen 125cc DN F Yama ha of Troy 's youngest rider had speed all night. but bad luck in the main cos t him an early e xit. '1\ct ually, me and Ramsey, we got caught up like in the first comer, and we got into a little scuffle and went into the bales ," Hansen said . " I came from like dead last up to nint h, and I had like fou r o r five guys right there in fro nt of me, and my bike locked up . Transm ission broke. I'm w o rking hard, just t hings happen. Everything happens for a reason, th ey say, so I just need to ta ke it on to ne xt week. " 87 Jeff Gibson 18th Sta r Racing's Gibson had a goal of being the top Yamaha rider in the main, and he was right be hind Sellards and Summey late in the main when he crashed hard . " In the whoops, that'd probably be the doozy," he said. " I got fifth in my heat, and I think I was riding pretty good. I got passed by Tedesco and Preston and kind of hung in wit h them, and the n comi ng into the main, I got a bad start. Th at was my fault, not the bike's . The bike's really good . Through the w hoops, about three or four laps fro m the en d , I just d ropped the front wheel, and the bike ate me pretty good. I should be okay for next week; I'll just take a co up le re st days and recuperate, and I shoul d be good ." 160 Ryan Morai s 7th After a disappo int ing beginning to his Red Bull KTM ride last weekend at Phoenix , where he failed to make the main, Morais finally realized the promise he's shown over the years. "I only had two days o n the bike before Phoen iX, and I put a lot of time in th is week and just went o ut there and t urned it around," Morais said. "We did a litt le bit of suspens ion testing, not much. I mostly just put laps in and got used to it as muc h as I cou ld. Iwas on a four-stroke at ro und one as a privateer, and now I'm back on a two-stroke. It's my best finish and my first time ever finishing Anaheim ." 61 Troy Adams to night because I kne w I had a good shot a t wi nning. I was ou t t here battling with t hose guys, and I was pretty fire d up . The last two races, I was pretty much by myself, so th is was different. Ton ight was d e finit e ly a good race, and tonight I t hink I could've been a little more aggressive - that would've been good fo r me. I'll have to d o be tte r ne xt ra ce ." When asked if Tedesco was th inking a bo ut the perfect series just yet, he responded; " N o, I'm no t t hink ing about that . I'm just ta king it race to race and just trying to t hink about that. If I can win 'e m, that's great, and if not, I'm just trying to win the championship - just staying consistent and taki ng it race to race." eN Andrew Short (Yam); 7. Ryan Mora is (KTM); 8. I just had a mo nt h to get ready for this championship, and things just ain't the way that I wish they were. I was riding aggressive - I mean, shoot, I did n't even care about the po ints, I ended up taking some dude ou t through the haybales and everything else , but I was just struggling with simple th ings. Yamaha of Troy 's Brock Sellards had an inte resting take on his problems so far this year. "It' s pretty tough , because a lot o f the guys , their bikes have stepped up," he said. " It was easy w hen I was the on ly 250 F guy ou t the re , and now that everybody e lse is on them, the starts ain't as easy. and it's a lot toughe r." When asked in the press con fere nce if he was th inking about the AMA during the main event, Kevin Windham respo nded , " No, I d idn't once think about the AMA, really, in the midd le of my race. A lot go ing on out t here, and I real ly d idn't have much time to think about the m. (Laughs) I guess we kind o f need a rulebook to e xactly tell us how to pass . Tonight the trac k seemed to be fairly on e-lined , and a lo t of tums I th ink that block- passes were probably the way to go , but I guess we need a new instru ct ion guide on ho w exactly to make passes." The man ho lding court in the press conference asked Trav is Preston if it was easier riding o ut of the sem i by himself, be ing that his teammate Ch ris Gosselaar sat the race out. "O h, definitely, I walk around like I own it," he said . "I leave my crap everyw here and make a mess, and it's nice. I like it. I wish I was the only guy in the re all the time ."
