The show these guys put on was well wo rth the trip. Blackwell went on to take the overall in the 12Scc Pro class and wen t ho me w ith so me decent money for his efforts. In the Pee Wee ra nks, D34 Mini ch amp Damo n Fio re w ent o ut to L1 MX and put a whuppin' on a lot of the Island regulars. Local Mini ace Sal Cale meta was also in attendance, and he had a few dece nt rides . So did L1 MX regular Mike Garone - despite losing his exhaust while way out in front in one of his Mini mot os. Garo ne came back to ta ke a co uple of to pthr ee finishes. The othe r bar-to-bar batt le of the day was the war in the 12Scc C and Schoolboy classes. DirtDiggin's Shane Burnett , on his Yamaha, had to hold off L1 MX local Ro n Ve nza, son of the Island MX Over 40 champ Ray Venza (who did a gr ea t jo b annou ncing all day). Burne tt and Venza owne d the top spots in the 125cc C and Schoo lboy classes. Burnett swe pt both classes. while Venza took second overall in both. It was a nice trac k, wit h some nice peo ple and some great racing - a great wee ke nd for all th ose who just had to ge t one more race in before the snow hits! RESULTS 125 C: I. MX Winter Cha llenge Round 2: Ed dieville One for the History Books By JUSTIN WHARTON GOLDENDALE, WA, NOV. 30 Vno w n fo r it s awesome GP cou rse , l'eddieville held its first -ever motocross race for the second round of the MX Winter Challenge. O nly three- lap mot os we re run, as the t rack was close to tw o miles long, and most races too k 15 minute s to co mplete . The man of the day was Eddieville veteran Grayson Hart , who left all of the other Four-Stroke and Vet A ride rs following his dust. In the first Vet (Over 30) A mo to , longtime rivals Hart and Don Boespflug raced togeth er into the first corner. Hart finalized his lead at t he se cond co rne r and t urned on t he he at , leaving Boespflug several second s be hind. Hart wo uld ex te nd his lead eve n mor e as the race progresse d. his knowledge of the tra ck evide nt. Following distantly we re Scott Sherrel and Ted Huskey. Hart took an easy win, wh ile Boespflug finished second. In the second moto, it was on ce again the two Vetera n Pros, Hart and Boesp flug, who flashed into the first corner togeth e r, but Hart shoved his way into the lead and neve r looked back. Boespflug trailed until he crashed , and by the t ime he got up and run ning again, he had lost seve ral po sit ion s . He tu rn e d on the after burners and moved back into second , only to stall his bike! Boespflug started his bike again, and he had to fight back for his second-place positio n. He re gaine d it, and even put a gap be tween himself and Sherrel, but by then Hart was in a not her co unt y. Ha rt p ic ke d up a massive victory, wit h Boespflug and Sherrel in t ow. In the first mota, Charlie Arnet was the first rider to the corner. Cor rie and Starke y moved up afte r mediocre starts and we nt after the leaders. Corrie got there first, while Starkey was a little slowe r and ha d to hu nt dow n C o r ri e . T he t wo w e r e battli ng fo r the lead w hen the checkered flag cam e ou t , w it h Co rr ie ba rel y e dg ing ou t Starkey for the win.
