Last season, Washingt on ' s Ran dy Sk ive r chu rned out an amaz ing string of victori es at each o f th e ni ne rounds in t a k in g h is Pre 19 70 , Over 50 and Fo u r-S troke class titl es, and this year Sk iver loo k s to be on hi s way t o a repeat of th at feat. Sk iver, riding a BSA B -50 MX. won all th ree of the cl asses he co nte sted - Ov er 50, Pre- 19 70 and Fo ur- Strok e Expert - to join Hart as th e o nly tr iple-cl ass winner. As th e lone Expert rid er in th e Pre-1 9 70 class, Skiver thumped to a du al ro ut of bo th motos, finis hing ahead of Russell Sk iv er. Russell wa s th e top performer in the ad join ed Interm ediat e class after placing 1- 1. J im Co le. who along with his wife, Arloa , m ade the trek from Salem, Oregon, piloted his pristi ne , Che ney-framed , Tri umph- powered m ach ine to a second-place finish in th e Pre1970 Intermediate class. trailing both Skivers in bo th m otos. AJS rider Jon Vasila uskas and his brother Steve each placed th ird in on e of t he two m ote s, and it wa s Jon wh o net ting t h i r d overall d ue to amato -two DNF on St eve' s part. Mark Baer, riding a 1969 CZ 3 6 0, fi nished fourth ov era ll , followed by Don Matthews, on a 1967 CZ 250 twin -p iper. A large field of contestants were on hand for th e XR75 cl ass. wh ich was sp lit in to two di visions. Mitchell Ne wton and Kei th Sw eete n were th e crea m of the crop in the Interm ediate po rt io n, nabbing one m ot a wi n api ece: Newton won the sec o nd mota to take home the top brass , ahea d of Sweeten and Ja m es Bod kin . In the Ama teur portion , Christopher Con way walloped th e co mpetition in both motos to lea d Bria n Adams and J ak e Sullivan into the top three in th e 18- rider field . In th e first 85cc ( 14- 16) moto, Ryan Jones pulled th e holesho t. followed by Dan iel J ewett and Stu ltz. Th en Stultz passed Jewett on the north side of the c ourse for sec ond . Wh en J on es went down on th e backside of th e Bent Hill . Stultz took the top spo t, fo llowed by J ew ett and T yl er Littlefi eld . Jones re -entere d the track a lap down and w ith a broken clutch le ve r. Jewett we nt down late in th e m ot a , m oving U tt lefi eld to second. Stu ltz secured a g ood lead during t he first half of the race . which was needed. as his m otorc ycl e sta rte d missing and sp utt ering on th e final tw o laps. Stu ltz came away with the m oto win , foll owed by Littl ef i eld , Mi c ha el Hardy . Jewett and Jones . Th e seco nd m ot o foun d St ultz in fro nt of Littlefi eld and J on es . On t he secon d l ap , J one s c ame alongside Littlefield and tri ed t o co mplete th e pas s be for e tum two , but Littlefield wou ldn 't give in , and the pa ir rema ined side by side up th e west side and then throug h th e do uble-single c om binatio n section. Littl efi eld c ont ro lled th e pr ef erred li ne going in t o t he h o le sectio n to reta in sec o nd p la c e . It wo uld take a few more laps befo re he could make th e pa ss, but J ones went by Litt lefie ld o n the sid e hill sec ti on to take over second. Th e Bite Me /Dirt Pro/Fit Te ch MX -sponsor ed Stultz pulled away fro m the battle for seco nd to gamer th e mota win. Sec ond went to Jones. followed by Littlefield . J ewett and Hardy . A ustin White held th e point at th e start of the first 125cc Junior mota, over Alex Haag, Tanner Cook and Josh Coleman. Wesley Geyer, Jerem y Williamson , Grant Bol zan and A ustin Schn urr ta ngled in the fi rst turn an d were left beh ind . Th e t op three remained th e same at the completion of lap one, while Cook had hi s g loves full trying to hold off Kyle Strippleman. Th en came Nas ser , M ichel Pruett and Corey Fo rd . Strippleman passed Cook com ing off the dropaway left -bender for fourth. Then Pruett slip ped up , allowing Ford and D erek Geiser to move into seventh and eig hth. Cook went wide coming in to the swi tchbacks, openi ng th e door for Ford and Geiser to go up th e insi de for sixth and seventh. The n Whi te went do wn in the fina l co mer, ha nding th e lead over to Haag . Nex t, Strippleman went down afte r tum one, so the field changed up aga in . with Haag in fro nt, fo ll owed by Co le man an d Nasser. Geiser moved aro und Ford for sixth as they c ame down the hill. On the white-flag lap, Colem an stum bled comi ng ou t of turn o ne , g iving Haag some breathing room. Strippleman went down once Thrasherland Motocross Park: Ryan Nasser went 2-1 for first overall In the 125cc Junior class and also scored the series championship at round six of the CMC Cactus State Motocross Series in Glendale, Arizona_
