very te chn ic al c ourse. A unique type of soi l
that seemed both tacky and slippery at the
same time c overed th e tr ack , w hich wound
around th e rod eo g rounds in serpe n tine fash ion . Deep whoops, very Chall enging rhy th m
secti on s, dou bl es right ou t of co rners , and the
pr ereq uisite trip le jump were j ust a few of the
ch alleng es that ro un d three' s c o m pet it o r s
would hav e to endure. Some wo uld falter, bu t
m ost were up t o th e task.

Novic e and X cl asses. Max Crane put up the

65 cc (0 -8) Beginner cl ass. Cra ne finishe d a
com mendable second to Murphy in the 65cc
X race. With size and experience on his side ,
though. Murphy rod e awa y with top ho nors in
the 65 cc ran ks .

alo ne in the No vi ce cla ss but ran away from
the Bi g Wh eel riders with who m he was lined
up . To top off the nigh t, he ran a co m pe titi ve
second to Int erm ed iate rider Dustin Pipe s in
th e 85cc X class. Sha un also fin ished run ner up to Pip es in th e Supermini division.

Up fro n t, Steven Pirn ik and Ch ris tian Han son
battled for both m ot o wi ns. Pirn ik rode hi s YZ
to vic tory in th e fi rst m oto . Hanson. who was
also Yama ha -mounted, came bac k and edge d
Pirn ik in the fin al. By way of tie breake r, Han son took the o vera ll , bu t both riders had a lot
to be p ro ud of: Th ey rode well , ra c ed close
and k ep t it clea n the entire tim e. Running a
steady thi rd in bot h m otos was anoth er Yam aha rider, Ho lli ster's J ak e Stro ng .
Th e 12 5 cc Youth cl ass is always a wi ld
one , and this parti cu lar event was no exce ption. J osh Fittro j um ped out front on th e first
lap of m ot o one, only to cr ash in an off -c amber turn befo re th e wh oop section . T hat was
th e open ing t ha t F r esn o ' s Ronn ie Vasq uez
needed . From there, he battled D arren Hanson
but held on for th e w in . F itt ro made a stro ng
comeback to finish thi rd in the fi rst rac e.
W hen the gat e dropped for th e seco nd and
final ti m e, F ittro aga in took th e early lead . A
litt le m ore c autio n on hi s part allowed him to
hol d on thi s tim e and ta ke the chec ke red fia g ,
Vasq uez too k sec ond , and wi th it th e overall
vi ct ory in th e cl ass. Fittro was second with his
3 - 1 showing , while A rm and o O 'C onnor co mpl et ed the top th ree.
