Th e fi rst surp rise of the night was in th e 50cc O il- Inje cted cl ass. Metai rie's Chad Patti son put hi s 12 -m oto win strea k on the line . O n the first lap . ho wever . Krot z Springs ' Kolby Jo hnson pulled up behi nd him and bu mp ed h im in the wh oo ps ; th e y bo th we nt d o wn . Jo hnson popp ed back up and took the lead. eve ntually winni ng his fi rst race . In the seco nd mote, Patti son held o ff the pesky J ohns on for his 13th m oto win. .John so n went down du rin g the battle but qu ic kly rem ou nt ed and almost caug ht Patt iso n at the Finish li ne. Darrow, Loui siana's P.J . Hayd el finished in thi rd . J ohnso n's c o usin Levi Bou rqu e won hi s first race as well. in the 50 cc (7-8) class. "T - Don" Lerill e from Larose quickl y shot out to the lead and won the firs t m ota . "T-Coo n" Che ra mi e from Golden Meado w caught up to fight the leader but couldn't pass. Bato n Rou ge ' s Sc oo ter Paetz sho we d h e sti ll has some ju ice in hi s 42-year -old body. He snatc hed the ho leshots in both m otos of th e Sen ior C cl ass. Up co m ing rider T ulli e Templet moved up to ch allenge him on the first lap o f the seco nd m ota . Th ey went side by side up the 65 ·foot tabletop, but only Tem p le t ex ited safel y ; Paet z went o ver th e bar s and crashed , scaring th e cro wd . However, he j ump ed right back up and finished the race, ga rne ring seco nd . Te m plet go t th e overall with a 2- 1 tally. which beat Paetz's 1· 2 score. Chase Guedry won the Open Mon ey con test aboa rd his D& G Cycle s Yam aha. Hon da rider Tr ent Can non rac ed him hard until his ba c k -b ra ke rot or go t bent.
