Miller started things off in the 250cc Pro cl ass, piloting his O 'Neal/ Sidi Boots/S c ott USA/Etern al / BR 1ba c k ed CRF450R t o th e fir st-mota h o l esh o t. Miller nev er fa ltered and held the lead all the way t o th e end, continually widening his gap on Ch ris L o r edo th r oughout the e igh t -lap affair. Lored o had his hands fu ll the entire mota with S uzuki pil ot Matt McCr ummen , wh o hounde d him until goi ng down o n th e white- f lag l a p. Brian Roth seized th e o ppo rt u nity and ca me in a di st ant th ird , behind Lor edo , at th e checkers. In m ota tw o , Roth sho t out to th e front , with Lored o in t o w . J u st as thi ngs were loo k ing go od fo r Loredo, who has certainly enjoye d on e of his be st se ries in quite som e t im e , he fail ed t o co m p l ete l ap tw o , g oing down on t he b a ck sec ti o n o f t h e track . With Roth now hold ing a fairly c o m fortab le lead, Mill er and Matt go t into a h eat ed b at tl e f o r the sec ond spo t . Matt fi nally m ad e a pass stick , and with four la ps to go, Roth looked li ke a shoo- in for th e win , but M att d idn't see things that way and went on a tea r , ree ling i n Roth o n th e wh it e -flag lap for th e win . Mill er sq ueaked by as well, and his 1-2 efforts sealed the overall . Matt (5 -1) an d Roth (3 -3 ) rounded out th e top three. "M e and Matt wer e going at it in th at last one, and I made a little rnista k e , a nd M att j umped on i t ," said Mill er. " He set a p retty fas t pace , so w hile I was trying to ca tc h him, I was able to get around Roth , bu t I ran out of time. At least I go t the overa ll , and si nce I usuall y only ri de m y Yamaha 25 0 F, I' m still getting used to the big Honda. " Team Green/Chevy Trucks Kawa sak i jockey Eric McCrummen swapped mota win s w ith M ill er in the 125c c Pro class, but a 2-1 score gav e Er ic the avera II o n th e day . In th e first mota , it was a th ree-way batt le , as Mi ll er l ed th e field , wi t h Eri c and David Gass in hot on his tail. In fact, this battle lasted the enti re m ota , and all three riders crossed the fin ish lin e in the same positions within half a second of on e another. Gassi n took the lead in mota two, as M ill er and E ric f oll ow e d . M ill e r went d own , and Eric q uick ly zero ed in on Gassin , and the two we nt at it for several laps until Gas sin made a maj o r bobb le. Eric wen t o n to t ake th e wi n . Gassin h el d o n for sec on d , g iv in g h im second overall on th e day v ia a 3- 2 score . Miller ro un d ed o ut th e top three w ith a 1-4 showing. Ho w e v e r , in mo ta two , S an ch ez went down wh ile le adi ng on th e thi rd la p. Kev in Hurt inherite d t he lead and was fo llowed by K ell y a nd Johnny Kerslake. Sa nc hez rebou nded in the fifth spot, and w ith tw o la ps to go, he picke d off Ke rs lake a n d K ell y a nd came up just sho rt of getting Hurt at the checkers . Whil e Sanch ez earned a well -dese rved ov e ra ll w i n , H u rt snagge d seco nd ove ra ll wi th a 6 -1 sco re, an d Kell y (4 -3) rou n ded out the top three. Fo r Ing a ll s, five out of six wasn 't bad. Th e Yamaha p ilot aced all four motos in th e aocc Intermediate and Superm ini classes and c ame up just one m ota shy of a com p lete sw eep , going 1·2 in th e aocc Open ranks .
