Carr came from the m iddle of the fro nt row to lead th e fi rst four laps of th e 25 -lap main eve nt , on ly t o lose the point to a fl ying Ge o Roeder II , the Oh i o n at i ve u sing th e c us hion to goo d effect. But as i s so often th e c a se on the p ea grave l tracks , the cus hi o n doesn 't l a st forever , and when th e low -li ne groove beg an to form, Roeder lost h is edg e. Carr battled his way back after being passed by Geo Roeder II (66) early in the race. Roeder went on to fi ni sh fifth.
