Upcom ing Round: Final Round - October 19, Winnemucca, Nevada Although he's a former champ, it's been a while since BrownJs seen this k ind of success In the Hare & Hound series. BRIEFLY••• Do the math.. • The overall 2003 AMA National Hare & Hound Series Champion , as we ll as several class championships. will be decided at the next and final round . to be heid on October 19 in Winnemu cca. Nevada . Russell Pearson, Destry Abbott and Brian Brown all have a rnathernatical chance of winning the overall. although for Brown to win, Abbo tt and Pearson would both have to DNF . Abbott has the next-toughest scenario - he can take home the title only if he wins the final round and Pearson finishes third or below . Pearson has a slightly bette r chance . He can tie up the series top honors if he finishes second or bette r (regardless of everyone else 's finish) or if Abbott doesn 't finish first (regard less of Pearson' s finish). The Four-Stroke and 125cc titles Will also be settled at the final round in October. Hosted by High Desert Racing. with the help of many sponsors, this USRA-sanct loned race consisted of two loops totaling 95 miles and featured both fast and tight sect ions. The five rounds thus far com pleted have seen three diHerent overall win ners. with Brown and Russ Pearson at two apiece and David Pearson scoring one . Kendall Norman gained not ice as he topped the 125cc class and finished fourth overall on a CR125. " It was a great course , the most fun cou rse r ve ever ridden," said the 19-year·old from Santa Barbara.
