A s the gate fell for m oto one of the 85 cc Nov ice cl ass, Th o m as Sm ith abscon ded w ith the holeshot , ove r Randy Merri ll , Wesley Ost m an, Colto n Barrin gger and Green. After two lap s of freiqht -tralninq, Merri ll was the fi rst to put a m ov e on Sm it h. Th is att empt led to an accidental block -pass that left Thoma s on the ground .
