By th e tim e t he gr een fl ag came out, Simin oe had a 10 -second lead on second place. Sim inoe's feet sta yed firmly plant ed on the peg s as he negot ia ted the co mers li k e a tru e ex pert. Beh ind him , Eva n s w as fe nding off Ada m s as th e two fo ught fo r sec o n d p lace . Ev ans is also a vet eran of the Honey Lake Pee Wee track , a nd he us e d his knowledge to edge forwa rd . The win gives Ro y a 42 -p oint lea d ov er Huffman . In the fir st mota, Ro y shared th e podium with so me new face s, Vision O ne Suzuki' s Ev an Lau ghr idg e earne d his first 25 0c c podi urn , finish in g sec o n d, Co or s Light Suzuki ' s Ma rc o Dor sch was third a fte r c apit alizing on Huffman 's fi rst -m o te fa ll. Laughridge q ui ck ly to ok th e lead , with Hu f fm an in second a nd Cooke in th ir d , Huffm an made th e pass on Lau ghridge and was running away wh en he went do wn alone. Lau gh rid g e reg ain ed th e lead but soon h ad Roy to deal wIt h. Roy had worked his way up from a 10 th -place st art to m ak e a ch arge fo r th e fro nt. Lau ghridge kept Ro y at b ay, b ut eve n tua lly the champ took over. Do rsch rod e alone in third. " He didn 't help me o ut at all ," said Roy of Laughridg e's first pod ium rid e. " He wa s ridi ng v ery well. Soon Lang e was o n Sc hnell, lo ok ing for secon d pla ce, When Lange made the pass on Sch nell , Huffman had c a u g h t the lea de rs ; Huffman mu scl ed his wa y p ast Ro y , taki ng over th e lead in a t ight co rn er. Huffman rode ou t fron t for th e rest o f the m ot o . Ro y lost the p ac e for a few lap s, allowi ng Huffman t o bu ild a bit of a lead ; then Roy m oun t ed a lat e-race ch arge.
